Inside the once friendly bond between Kate Middleton and Prince Harry

Prince Harry and Kate Middleton once shared a cordial bond for over a decade before their royal rift.

The Duke of Sussex reportedly welcomed his new sister-in-law with open arms and soon developed a jovial relationship with her.

The pair have known each other since they were teenagers with Kate having met Harry’s brother, Prince William, while they were studying at the University of St Andrews. Many commentators noted how Harry and Kate were more than just in-laws, and shared a bond that was more like brother and sister.

Express.co.uk newly unearthed some pictures which depicted that Kate and Harry’s relationship was pretty friendly.

Taken in June 2008, three years before William married Kate, the Royal Family attended the service for the Most Noble Order of the Garter at St George’s Chapel in Windsor.

PTI, govt to hold talks on elections today

Following the Supreme Court’s emphasis on negotiations, talks between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will begin at the Senate secretariat at 6pm, sources told Geo News.

Officials, privy to the development, shared that Attorney General for Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and briefed him on today’s hearing at the Supreme Court.

Following his meeting with the PM, the AGP contacted PTI’s Barrister Ali Zafar and Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar.

From the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) side its three-member committee will lead the talks while the government’s panel will be finalised after the ruling alliance’s lawmakers will meet with PM Shehbaz.

The development comes after Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial urged the government and the opposition to sit for talks for the sake of the constitution.

Pak vs NZ: Pakistan bowl first after winning toss in 1st ODI

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam on Thursday put New Zealand to bat first after winning the toss in the opening game of the five-match ODI series played at the Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi.

Batter Haris Sohail who suffered an injury during a practice session has been excluded from the side.

Babar said the pitch will be helpful later in the day for batting while NZ captain Tom Latham endorsed Pakistan's decision, saying they will also bowl first had they won the toss.

"Our morale is high after winning the final T20I."

The ODI series offers both sides the opportunity to feel out each other´s strengths and weaknesses ahead of the World Cup in India in October-November.

The Black Caps shocked the home side by squaring a preceding five-match Twenty20 series 2-2 despite missing eight players — including Kane Williamson — due to the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) or injury.

Under stand-in skipper Latham, New Zealand adapted to the conditions skillfully, roaring back from 2-0 down to win the third and fifth matches, with the fourth abandoned after rain.

Middle-order batter Mark Chapman has been added to the ODI squad after blazing 290 for just one dismissal in the T20 series — the most runs by a batter in a five-match T20I series.

Wicketkeeper-batter Tom Blundell, recently included in the five best cricketers of the year by Wisden, and middle-order batter Henry Nicholls further bolster the squad.

PM Shehbaz Sharif to take vote of confidence today

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided to take a vote of confidence from the National Assembly today, sources told Geo News on Thursday.

Officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that PM Shehbaz decided to seek a trust vote after holding consultations with lawmakers of the ruling alliance. He had met the MPs at a luncheon held today.

A report published in The News stated that PM Shehbaz was supposed to take the vote on Wednesday afternoon but the exercise was deferred till today.

More than 190 members of the National Assembly (MNA) were present in the house whereas 172 members constitute a majority.

Royal family reportedly never wanted Meghan Markle to attend King Charles coronation as the invitation was designed specifically in that way.

According to Radar Online, the Royal family only wanted to bring the Prince Harry home leaving the Duchess “outside.”

Speaking to the publication, an insider said that it part of the family’s masterplan to have Harry attend the ceremony alone so that they could make him see the damage that he’s done.

"The royals just want to bring Harry home, pull up the drawbridge and leave Meghan on the outside," the insider claimed.

The source went on to reveal that the invitation was specially designed in a way making sure neither Harry nor Meghan have prominent roles at the coronation.

"The senior royals kept their fingers crossed that Harry's sense of duty would make him feel obligated to fly to London for the most important day of his father's life," the source added.

"Meghan and Harry have attacked just about everyone and can't be trusted."

China rolls over $2bn loan to Pakistan, Dar confirms

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday said China had rolled over a $2 billion loan that matured last week, providing relief during the country's acute balance of payment crisis.

Locking in a rollover had been critical for the country of 220 million, where reserves have dipped to just four weeks' worth of imports and talks over an International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout tranche of $1.1 billion have hit a stalemate.

PM Shehbaz takes notice of gas loadshedding during sehr, iftar

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday assured the members of the National Assembly that his government would address the issue of gas loadshedding during sehr and iftar as inflation-weary people have been registering complaints.

The prime minister, responding to a point of order raised by MNA Syed Agha Rafiullah, told the house that he had already taken notice of the matter.

PM Shehbaz shared that he had already summoned a meeting to be held later in the day, to discuss the issue of gas loadshedding.

“We will leave no stone unturned to address this issue,” the prime minister assured the house.

Record number of emigrants registered for overseas employment in 2022

As many as 829,549 emigrants were registered for overseas employment through the Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment (BE&OE) in 2022 — the highest in the last five years.

The statistics regarding emigrants were shared by the Parliamentary Secretary for Overseas Pakistani and Human Resource Development Syed Agha Rafiullah at the National Assembly on Wednesday.

Responding to questions, Rafiullah said that 12.45 million Pakistani workers, since 1971, had been registered with the bureau for employment abroad till 2022.

Karachi, which is set to host the last four ODI matches of the upcoming limited-overs series against New Zealand, could be stripped of hosting one of its fixtures, according to sources.

The sources privy to the development said that it was likely that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) would make some changes to the series schedule once again.

Karachi, which is the venue for the last four ODI matches of the series, could be stripped of hosting one fixture with Rawalpindi in line to host an additional match, they added.

It must be noted that the schedule for the series was revised recently due to elections in Punjab.

Banks to observe extended working hours

Musarrat Hilali to become first woman chief justice of Peshawar High Court

Justice Musarrat Hilali is set to become the first female chief justice of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) on April 1 after the retirement of current CJ Qaiser Rasheed.

She would be the second female who would take charge as the CJ of a high court after Justice Tahira Safdar, who was the top judge of the Balochistan High Court.

Justice Musarrat Hilali was among the senior-most judges of PHC and would serve as the chief justice till her retirement.

Born in Peshawar on August 8, 1961, she received Law Degree from Khyber Law College Peshawar University and enrolled as an advocate of district courts in 1983, as an advocate of the high court in 1988, and as an advocate of the Supreme Court in 2006.

Parents claim 'insensitive' UK hospital staff laughed while switching off son's life support

Heartbroken parents of a five-year-old boy claimed that they heard the hospital staff laughing in the background at the time when their son's life support machine was switched off, Daily Mail reported.

Muhammad Ayaan Haroon was admitted to Sheffield Children's Hospital in South Yorkshire, England after he was having trouble breathing.

His father Haroon Rashid said they were in the same room as his son took his last breaths and only a thin curtain was between the doctors and nurses who were allegedly laughing.

Rashid has submitted a formal complaint about the staff and the bosses at the hospital and has been assured of thorough investigation.

Conviction of 'Serial' podcast subject Adnan Syed reinstated

The conviction of Adnan Syed, who spent more than 20 years in prison for the alleged 1999 murder of his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee and whose case was covered by the podcast "Serial," was upheld by a Maryland appellate court on Tuesday.

By a vote of 2-1, the appellate court ruled that the lower court had violated Young Lee, the victim's brother's right to be present at a crucial hearing.

The 41-year-old was imprisoned for life when he was 19. The Baltimore man was accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee and hiding her body in the woods in 1999.
