Impressions has been a long time coming, the other side to Flat Front, as we thought that the original design of the manuscript was too big. The second half of the split went through a series of changes and revisions which allowed Jordan to present herself more honest than the first collection. This is a New York Florida hybrid which demands you to submerge yourself into. The link that brought Jordan to Dark Thirty was tedious, but it’s amazing. 2025 was Jordan’s year, being two for two. What will she produce in the future is a question to ask, but for now let’s enjoy as I present DTPP42

Independent publishers are allowed to select six poems for consideration for the Pushcart Awards. So the plan this year was simple, take one poem from each book, hide the title, and poet, before sending it out to all DTPP family members and asking them to vote on their six favourite pieces. The poems with the highest votes have become the list. Today we are showing the six that we have submitted as the best works of the year. adam

Rheign being in a Dark Thirty release year is simply something that just has to happen at the point, and as she constantly evolves her style of writing, with systematical line breaks unlike what she has done before, and I think it may not be seen again. Statues & Their Reflections is Rheign stepping outside of herself while still maintaining her introspection, as if collecting the thoughts from all she observes, but that’s just how I see it. Izzy is one of those poets who is such a vibe to work with, the high concepts she thinks up and executes, 16 books ago it was spending time in Japan isolated, with personal struggles. This time we enter her dreams, and the wild ideas of her mindscape. The passing thoughts which almost feel like observations from a car (possibly the idea for the cover, but I don’t know.) we will never know if the poems were constructed whilst asleep or when she woke up. It could have been her Las Vegas, a gamble with the knives and dice, the pages invite you into what happens in the mindscape, stays in the mindscape. With everything said, I present DTPP40

Flickers is the antipode to Nocturnal. Set in Lisbon, I had the intention of writing a collection that feels like an ode to latter days of summer. The concept was simple, I wanted to have a book that simply explored the winding streets embracing the art of microchopping words and verses to be more expressive than what they could have been. A huge influence of the book was My Method Actor by Nilüfer Yanya, which is very apparent in the cover, and can also be found in the words within. I have so much love and respect for Christina Hennemann, LB Olsen, and Ella Aranyani for taking the time and their kind words they each said about the collection, connecting with the human elements of being in a different city and discovering new things about yourself. With all that, I present DTPP39

L. M. Beatty was a part of the memories anthology, and subsequently became the Pushcart nominee, and I suggested the idea of a collection. So at the start of the year the collection came in, and I knew that the manuscript whispered opus. From the order of the poems, to the drawings which are so carefully placed, this is a collection which should be read as the time rolls in either direction. What this book really is, is a million dollars worth of thoughts, musings, and all the other messy bits which she carries around.

This never feels any less crazy when I think about it, but four years ago I got drunk and thought it would be a good idea to become a publisher, 34 individual collections, 3 anthologies, 28 authors, and so much planned for the year ahead. To everyone who has submitted a manuscript, poem for an anthology, bought a book, contributed artwork, thank you.

This book is the first that we have released to be named after a place. Dark Peaks, after the area in the Peak District where she lives, and weaves its inspiration from. The pieces which weave her storytelling with moments of her life and trauma, each a condensed version of an emotion. Hannah collects herself into four states of emotions, showing that there is always light to be found in the depths of the forest of both the mind, and life.

Rhys is one of those people who I love to work with, no matter how heavy the subjects he wants to discuss. So when I got the call back in April I knew something was brewing. The book found its inception in the dark moment of a friend dying; his words feel like solace to himself and his fallen brothers family, while his guests present their own perspective on the world and situation. The words classic or masterpiece get flippantly used because people don’t wish to be late to lauding praise, but the truth is that finding home is about beginning again, and most importantly it is healthy.

The initial schedule for 2025 had this book set for release in June or July, and then the usual madness of poets dropping out and missing hand in deadlines, and here we are. None of that is really relevant to the storytelling weaved into the pages, stories that may seem arcane at first glance, once you look past the Irish language and understand the metaphors which twist and lock themselves into place, along with her honest confessions in regards to life and starting again after a near death experience, Icarus Isn’t Dead is a book that serves as a spirit guide to help navigate through the world of theatre.
