Independent publishers are allowed to select six poems for consideration for the Pushcart Awards. So the plan this year was slightly more complicated, take one poem from each poet from each book, hide the title, and poet, before sending it out to all DTPP family members and asking them to vote on their six favourite pieces. The poems with the highest votes have become the list. Today we are showing eight poems that didn’t make the cut, tomorrow we shall reveal the second lot that didn’t make the cut.

Some of my spare time these days is spent doing menial tasks such as picking up horse manure, in-between that, work, life, writing, and Dark Thirty, I met a writer in a coffee shop, we got talking and amongst our mutual love of poetry, we found a shared interest in equine care. Over the span of a few days we sat down and discussed a book, along with a verse in my book on Coney Island. Equestrian Tranquillity is about finding and enjoying the surreal and calm in short vignettes while the world races to an inevitable cessation. So, with everything said I present DTPP53.

There is the thing in life, that everything has to end, when I started the cities series it was only going to be three books, that became four, before I settled on nine. New York is one of those cities that just has so much life I had to tap into the punk, alternative, and underground hip-hop scenes, knowing I had to end in a bombastic way, to go all out, with an array of guests, Dark Thirty family members, those from the start and new members. With the idea of gritty storytelling full of punches, discussing life, realism, politics, and pop culture. Dangerous as a collection is the culmination of all the cities that came before, more importantly it could cause problems or adverse consequences. With all said, I present DTPP52

So last year I was in a crazy bind where I had two books and an endless list of demands and unobtainable goals from someone who I just had to walk away from, and here I am four months from a new year short two books for what gets released so I put the it out on the story asking who had was working on a collection, a stab in the dark and they went almost instantaneously. Phone calls with Sarah as she explained what I was to expect, and the collection didn’t disappoint. As we flicker between both Sarah and her father John as they discuss the universe, family, and everyday life. Spirit Of The Universe is looking at the world and beyond at both a micro and macro level, from family life to stones trees and everything that falls in the spaces between. I present DTPP51

Five years ago I got drunk and decided to become a publisher, that’s the short explanation, the truth is I went it with extreme doubt as to if this would work and how long I was going to be able to maintain this. With each book I get reassurance that I have a level of knowing what I am doing to some degree, three anthologies, 37 individual poets with 46 books, one collective showcase later and here we are.

I knew I wanted to do something special for release number 50, the date, timeframe, everything had to be significant. I had a few ideas before I settled on the decision of 10 poets, each presenting three brand new poems. The lineup went through multiple changes, people dropped out, never got back to me. But in the team everyone brings a different quality.

Ashley - Heart. Rhys - Soul. Bethan - Passion. Elijah - Relaxation. Katherinne - Realism. Joel - Knowledge. Eleanore - Wisdom. Kellan - Magic. Beth - Grit.
As for me, I’m just the glue that puts everything together.
I think I’ve said enough, I am so fu***ng proud to show you all DTPP50.

Back in 2023 Carella was in the collection
Say Her Name, five months later again in Forgotten Fragments Of Time. At that time I made the suggestion of releasing a collection together, after much thinking she sent over the manuscript, numerous versions, edit after edit, followed by even more edits later and the book was eventually at a point where it was done, by any definition of the word. The book is blunt, unhinged, probably overthought, provocative, and sublime. So with everything said I finally present DTPP49.

So I was originally supposed to release a book with Lisa back in 2024, for release number 29, for whatever reason nothing materialised, and I moved forward with more releases. At some point last year we spoke again, and she said that she still wanted to release a collection that she only referred to as Coffee Chronicles; I told her if it was something she wanted to do as a serious project then send it over and I’d make the space for her. When the collection eventually came through, I found a series of latte and cappuccino laced musings. Thoughts and introspection on falling both in and out of love, delicate in the garnishes and lines that roast themselves in your psyche, much like the Colombian coffee beans that served as the initial source of inspiration. Coffee Chronicles is one of those books that has been brewing for a long time, and it’s now ready to be served. I present DTPP48

I was working last Saturday looking at the list of releases
for this year and next year,
and thinking to myself I need a new anthology.
So running until the end of March 2027,
for a release in around October 2027,
we will have our second memories anthology.

A maximum of five poems, no line length,
just great poetry.
Please submit as a Word document, PDF, or Pages
for those with a Mac.

As always all money made from the collection will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Society. I can’t wait to read through all the submissions
