Boxes - The Trappings of Society and Relationships The mystery novel Boxes takes twists and turns as it directly confronts rampant social injustice. They often go undiscussed and subsequently unresolved.

I wrote the novel Boxes as a creative attempt to address the unresolved social issues in American society that continue to plague us. To spark discussion, I decided to create a social commentary in the form of a page-turning mystery novel. The story line drives readers through the plot while character interactions bring to light how societal problems deeply affect our lives and relationships. I al

so include discussion guides on many different issues addressed in the novel. If you'd like to learn more, visit at boxesdesanto.com.

"They [Courtland Chemical Industries] falsified reports, launched fake remediation efforts, or doled out bribes to small-town, water-company barons. Shareholders got rich. Poor people died.”

Corporate corruption fuels environmental contamination.

Here are a dozen books I've read about the personal tragedies of social injustice. They shout to the mind and whisper to the soul. The times and locations are limitless, as are the tales from authors worldwide. I've read many more, and have so many more to read. These are just some snapshots.

- Covert and overt racism

- Environmental crime
- Living with disabilities
- Marriage and relationships
- Religion and faith

I'm reading Crazy Horse Weeps, The Challenge of Being Lakota in White America. Fascinating insights on the tragic repression and resulting social issues of Native Americans. Highly recommend it.

I recently appeared in an episode of Not Dead Yet on ABC. I'm the person you didn't see when lead actors were conversing (AKA a background actor). If you'd like, I can post more examples and we can play "hide and seek" or "where's Tom."

This week I attended the trial for three police officers who killed a young black man. Emotions ran high, especially when the officers were acquitted. I was acting in a documentary movie, but the experience was very real, and deeply moving.

Boxes, published in 2020, first began in 1986 on my Mac SE. Insights from life experiences and advances in technology enriched its content. Sadly, the social issues that drove me to write boxes are more insidious than ever. Technology has changed exponentially. Human nature has not.

I've always been disturbed by the unresolved social issues in American society that continue to plague us. They often go undiscussed and subsequently unresolved. To spark discussion, I decided to create a social commentary in the form of a page-turning mystery novel. The story line would drive readers through the plot while character interactions would bring to light how societal issues deeply affect all of us.

Three novels inspired Boxes. The Catcher in the Rye and Rabbit, Run profoundly comment on society and relationships. Catch Me If You Can shows the most clever ways to evade capture.

The protagonist in Boxes, Tim Adams, is disillusioned by the injustice and hypocrisy of American society. He runs away and continually outsmarts the private detective and FBI agents pursuing him.

The difference is that Boxes is neither a coming-of-age story, nor an escape into a downward spiral. In the end, Tim redeems himself and others through his desperate escape.

I'm fully renovating my outdated page for my novel. Those who follow, or even liked the page at some point, will most likely see construction debris in your feeds. Apologies in advance as I put more effort into promoting Boxes - The Trappings of Society and Relationships.
