MUSIC MILESTONE: 20 years ago today, on August 24, 2004, Young Buck dropped his second solo album and first major album under G-Unit/Interscope Records called "Straight Outta Cashville." Production included a monster roster of notable producers including: Sha Money XL, DJ Paul, Dre & Vidal, Needlz, Lil' Jon, and many more. The album also consisted of guest features from the G-Unit team: 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, and The Game, along with David Banner, Lil' Flip, Ludacris, D-Tay, and Stat Quo.
The album spun singles such as "Let Me In," "Shorty Wanna Ride," "Look at Me Now," "Bonafide Hustler," and the most controversial single on the album, "Stomp." The latter sparked the infamous beef between Atlanta-based rappers T.I. and Ludacris.
"Straight Outta Cashville" debuted at #3 on the U.S Billboard 200 charts in the U.S. It sold 261,000 copies during its first week. It also peaked at #2 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and it scored the #1 spot on the Top Rap Albums charts. By January 26, 2005, the album reached platinum status after selling 1 million copies in the U.S.
Unfortunately, "Straight Outta Cashville" suffered from poor promotion due to the November 2004 stabbing incident at the Vibe Awards. Young Buck was arrested for the assault, however, the case was eventually dropped. Still, many months had passed by and Buck's legal issues hindered him from promoting the album.
Nevertheless, "Straight Outta Cashville" remains a hood classic!
Cheers to you, Buck!!! 🥂🥂🥂
