We’re talking about the insane turnaround for the Orioles after winning 52 games only two years ago and we get RDT on the phone to offer congratulations. The Dodgers clinched the NL West so we compare and contrast the success of the Dodgers and Braves in recent years and decide who’s having the more impressive run. Max joins the pod to talk Angels missing the playoffs, Shohei clearing out his locker, Rendon throwing the Angels under the bus, and Mike Trout probably being traded. We’re talking about how this affects the Rangers chances of success in the playoffs and Jared has a take that may surprise you. The Braves won their SIXTH straight division title and look to be going into the playoffs as World Series favorites. Joey breaks down the contract situation and comes to the conclusion that the Braves are all set for the rest of the decade. Alek Manoah REFUSED to report to Triple-A and is expected to be shut down for the season. We’re reacting to yet another black mark on the season for Jared and Dallas’ AL Cy Young pick. Trea Turner has pretty much been the best player in baseball since he received his standing ovation and we’re trying to figure out what’s in the air in Philly. The Angels are reportedly open to trading Mike Trout if he wants out. We’re talking about possible destinations, who could take the rest of his massive contract, and where he’s at in his career in terms of production and health. Dallas thinks he’s washed. Our other lead topic is George Kirby’s comments about wishing he was pulled earlier in his last start. We dive into exactly what he said as well as the reaction from former pitchers on social media. Ronald Acuña is sick of being pitched inside and had some words for Pirates pitcher Oviedo which led to the benches clearing. The AL Wild Card race is tightening up big time, partly due to José Altuve’s insane hot stretch including hitting 3 HRs in 3 innings last night. The Rangers find themselves outside of the playoff picture for the first time all season so we’re discussing what went wrong and whether they have any fight left. We’re also diving into the NL Wild card race and deciding which teams we think will prevail among the six teams still in the mix. Other topics include Justin Steele’s impact on the Cubs, Julio Urías being arrested and his future in MLB, Terry Francona saying “it’s time” in terms of managing in baseball, an Ohtani injury update, Rendon still ducking questions from reporters, and more. After buying at the trade deadline, not trading Shohei, and going all in for a 2023 playoff run, the Angels have officially rage quit. They have placed SIX players on waivers, four of which they acquired at the deadline. We get Max on the phone for his reaction which leads to his beautiful delivery of a poem encapsulating Angels fans’ thoughts on the state of the team. Other topics include J-Rod claiming the AL lead in hits, Strasburg’s retirement, Acuña Jr. chasing 30/60 and NL MVP discussion, Yu Darvish potential elbow injury, Aaron Boone staying as the Yankees manager, and Tony Gonsolin having elbow surgery. Then, we got Julio Rodríguez putting an absolute SHOW over the last week as the Mariners skyrocket in the standings and now have a 60% chance to make the postseason. Gerrit Cole had his 4th straight opportunity to pass the Baines line and failed to do so yet again, and Jayhay took that personally. Cedric Mullins had possibly the greatest two half-innings of all time when he robbed a game-tying home run in the bottom of the ninth and hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the 10th.
