UMSU Press had always been managed by the Current Affairs Secretariat under Suara Siswa KMUM (KMUMSS), and hence as an initiative of KMUMSS, it represents the opinions and perspectives of KMUMSS. We would like to reassure you that the articles and submissions from now on will remain under the Suara Siswa Shadow Cabinet. As an organisation, we are committed to upholding the values of free expression and intellectual engagement. You have used the advantage of power in order to compel other communities to give you what you want — this is what an empire all about.” - Dr. Farish A. Noor, Professor at the Department of History, Faculty of the Arts and Social Sciences, Universiti Malaya. Ensuing the code “London Bridge has fallen” spreading like wildfire, the British empire and the Queen’s legacy of violence seem to surface and become the subjects of debate. Colonialism, driven by capitalism, had molded Southeast Asia with numerous boundaries that led to the establishment of modern nation-states, however contracting to its nature of fluidity and cultural authenticity. This carving up had resulted in terrible political repercussions that last until today. The demise of Queen Elizabeth II has drawn a concoction of reactions from different communities worldwide.
