It was one of the most shocking moments of my life.
Nearly 1k dollars gone just like that!
I gripped my course note firmly in my hands and stared at my phone. How could I tell my friend that Fiverr just blocked our account with nearly 1k dollars in it? How could I even begin to read for the LIS exam the following day?
This was our hard-earned money. Sweat, tears, and time were all gone within a second.
I grew too confident in the security of our account, and my Fiverr nemesis caught up with us just a day before our exams.
I was depressed for a while; anything Fiverr-related gave me some form of PTSD.
I didn't want to hear the name, see the colour, or anything associated with Fiverr.
It's why I always say Fiverr is a bit like Nigeria. The hardship is unnecessary.
But that event made me realise freelance is a dangerous journey. It's even rougher when you don't have someone else to mentor you. Someone from whom you can learn, learn from their experiences and mistakes, and easily gain leverage above the competition.
As for us, we had to figure most of these things out on our own, and it was painful.
In my next post, I'll tell you how I realised the BIG difference between Fiverr and Upwork.
After all, they're both the biggest freelancing platforms still, in 2022.
Stay glued.
