With his new Rawsome Deep release already smashing the charts 💥 we caught up with about his influences and motivation, Dolphin Flips Records and his passion for music! ⬇️

What reason did you get into music? 
Well I’ve always been surrounded by music. I grew up in a musical family with a guitar in my hand from before I can remember. However I started to think seriously about music as a career after I finished my university degree. I graduated with a genetics major and realised I wasn’t ready to work in a lab just yet – So I booted up Ableton instead…

 Who inspires you and what influences you?

I am really inspired by all types of music. I’m a big lover of many genres of electronic and non-electronic music from Psychedelic Rock and Hip hop to Electro, Techno – the whole lot. But to stay relevant, my biggest electronic influence as of recent has been the French house scene. Particularly the dark dub techno sounds of artists like Janeret and retro 90-inspired house of Armless Kid, DJ Steaw as well as everything in between.

 Why do you make this genre of music?

I love house music because its fun to dance to. Its soulful and energetic on a dancefloor – spreads a lot of positive vibes and good times.

 What are your goals and who would you like to work with?

My goals right now as an artist is just to focus on me. During COVID I’ve really taken some time off to discover exactly which direction I want to take my music, and what sound defines me as a ‘human’ rather than just a ‘brand’ so to speak. Been a lot of self-contemplation and experimentation. Dead or alive I would love to work with legendary producers like J-Dilla or Madlib, in terms of more modern house stuff… probably someone like T. Jaques or Pavel Iudin would be fun.
 What releases to you have coming up/anything else you’d like to mention?

Not sure whether its ready to be publicly announced yet.. but just know that I’ve been working really hard on finalising an EP on one of my favourite French dub-techno oriented labels. As well as some exciting things planned for my own imprint ‘Dolphin Flips Records.’
Gearing up for what is ‘hopefully’ going to be a big 2021.
