Blessings for this new calendar year. It don’t make no sense that we’d celebrate a new year in the dead of winter (northern hemisphere), when all other living breathing beings on the planet know that it’s not time yet. They know that it all starts up again when nature says so. When we come out of hibernation, when she gives birth to endless forms of life … when you start to feel those random butterflies in your stomach. (That’s not just me, right?)

Capitalism got us fu**ed up, going against our instincts and natural rhythms.

But… I appreciate a collective celebration & sigh of relief. I love a cyclical ritual.

They say using this time to assess & reflect & establish new habits & routines helps to set up for the spring so we can hit the ground running then.

I’ve been reading this powerful book by Alex Elle “How we Heal.” Wrote up my first journal entry of 2023 based on a promo she offers: what are all the things (big & small) I have to forgive myself for?

How would you answer that for yourself?

You can’t build on murky foundations. Nature doesn’t allow for it. So if you haven’t dug deep & forgiven yourself for the resolutions you didn’t keep or the goals you didn’t meet in 2022 or for the mistakes you made, how will you have space for the new & fresh to roll in?

And luckily, it’s still GOAT season, y’all. We Capricorns love structure & discipline & breaking down the year into seasons & mapping out the goals we’re gonna achieve & the s**t we’re gonna master.

Soak up our Saturn vibes, be your own best hype person & get ready to stay ready. Also rest up, but don’t sleep on yourself or your blessings!

Ready to f**k s**t up. Come with!

7 episodes & we got listeners in 7 countries already! Blessings on blessings 🫧💫🫧

Every one of the featured guests is brilliant. Every episode is a whole offering & deep soul medicine. Their words & vision & contributions to community go far beyond this virtual space & I’m humbled to have been trusted with their stories & heartspeak. I learned so much in each episode & I hope listeners did too. If you missed out, it’s not too late to tune in .queer.conjure 🎧 🎙 🎧

Shoutout to both of these Frisco producers for the magic that is beat-making. I had sent the homey a playlist & asked him to lift up my homelands 🐪 with some of that unique Bay Area vibe. The result speaks for itself ✨ I already know this podcast wouldn’t be what it is without the tunes y’all hear in each episode. & 🎵 🎶 🎵

Many thanks to StudioX for the space to dream & trust & record. Big ups to this (Bay Area) women of color owned & operated recording studio.

Over the course of the year, I had to take a break for a while because: life. In that time, I got hella self critical & hard on myself for not being able to produce content… but truth is, no one set a timeline but me. The expectations were mine alone, and heart projects come out when & how they need to. The aunties said.

Hella appreciate the love, affirmations and the shares from community & loved ones. Turns out it’s hard to promote your own s**t and put yourself out there like that 🙃 . So y’all really come through for me during this learning and growing process… and I don’t take that lightly.

Shukraaaan for a beautiful first year y’all.

Trailer for season 2 drops soon. And let me just say: it’s gonna be goooooood. I can feel it ⚡️💥⚡️
