The Presidential Election Petitions Court has accepted certified copies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s academic and work records, submitted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The PDP and Atiku, a former vice president, are contending against Tinubu’s victory at the February 25 election.

The documents accepted on Friday, June 23, 2023, by the Tribunal include President Tinubu’s B.Sc certificate from Chicago State University, his NYSC Discharge Certificate, and a certificate of service from Mobil Nigeria Oil Plc.

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has rubbished a court order as he approved the promotion of 11 Ibadan High Chiefs to beaded crown Obas.

An Oyo State High Court in Ibadan on February 1, 2023, dismissed a suit filed by the then Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland (now Olubadan), Senator Lekan Balogun, challenging the invalidation of his right to wear a beaded crown.

Balogun and seven other high chiefs of the Olubadan-in-Council had jointly sued the state government for denying them their rights to wear beaded crowns.

The Federal Government has denied claims making the rounds on a purported 114 percent pay rise for governors, judges, and political aides.

On Wednesday night, reports had it that the Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, (RMAFC), Muhammad Shehu, said the salaries of politicians, judicial and public office holders would be increased by 114 percent.

Sheu who was represented by a federal commissioner in the commission, Rakiya Tanko-Ayuba was said to have disclosed the development while presenting the reports of the reviewed remuneration package to Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris.

Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has confirmed June 28 as Eid al-Adha celebration in Nigeria.

According to a statement issued on Sunday evening by the national moonsighting committee, the sultan wished Muslims a happy Eid al-Adha in advance.

“The Sultanate Council Sokoto has declared Monday 19/June/2023 as the first day of Zul-Hijjah 1444 AH. Accordingly, Wednesday 28/June/2023 will be the day of Eidul Adha 1444 AH,” the statement reads.

Kidnapped Chief Imam of the Uso Community in the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, Alhaji Ibrahim Oyinlade, has regained freedom from his abductors.

Oyinlade was kidnapped along the Owo-Akure Expressway on Saturday and gained his freedom on Sunday evening, June 18, 2023.

It was gathered that Oyinlade was working on his farm when hoodlums invaded the premises and took him away.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has removed the restrictions on domiciliary accounts and has increased the cash deposits to $10,000 daily.

This was contained in a statement issued after a meeting with the bankers’ committee on Sunday, June 18, 2023.

The meeting was meant to provide further guidance to deposit money banks (DMBs) on the recent operational changes to the foreign exchange market and to discuss the implementation and implications of the policy changes for the banking public.
