Why these guys are my marketing mentors.......
I was asked in a FB group recently who my mentor was.
When I replied "Lemmy from Motorhead", I'm sure they thought I was joking!
But I was being deadly serious - and here's why......

For those unfamiliar with the band, Motorhead fans are know as the most loyal raving fans of pretty much any band out there.
The reason is that Lemmy always put his fans first.
I'm sure the last thing most bands want to do after a gig is subject themselves to hours of signing autographs for the fans who have just seen their show.
Not Lemmy or anyone in his band!
Every time I saw them on tour, I knew 100% that within minutes of finishing the concert, they would come out and stay signing the autographs for anyone that wanted one, and had a chat and a joke with everyone when it came to their turn.
That's how I got to meet him and his band 3 times. (Pity we didn't have iphones with cameras back then for a selfie!)
Contrast that with some of the "mega stars" of today, who you wouldn't stand a chance of interacting with in a million years!
So what has that got to do with marketing?
Everything!
The standard sales funnel starts off with "cold traffic", (people who know they have a problem but not much more), who you then educate so they know more about the problem, the solution and how your solution is the best fit for them.
After that though is the bit where you turn them into raving fans by treating them really well, by creating high quality content and products, respecting them, responding quickly to them in communications, going the extra mile when they have issues, continuing to support courses you may have published a long time ago etc etc
Then those raving fans will always defend you if you end up being attacked online, or have your groups spammed etc as a return favour for how you have helped them, and promote your new offers without even being asked.
So bear this in mind in every interaction online you have, and go get yourself some raving fans!
P.S. This post was prompted when I saw a Motorhead fan who hadn't received his gig tickets for Phil Campbell's own band, after he had bought them from a 3rd party seller.
I messaged Phil on Twitter and needless to say he is going to get the guy sorted out for replacement tickets. Class Act - and another raving fan created!
