“Murder in the Leeward islands” is the third book in the Caleigh O’Neill Stories, a series of romantic suspense novels about an heiress who is blackmailed into joining a shady undercover government agency. Each book stands alone – different hot guy, different dead body, etc. You don’t need to read the first two books in the series, “Murder at the Top of the Stairs” and “Murder in Mallorca,” “to enjoy “Murder in the Leeward Islands.”
Book Three finds Caleigh, mission unaccomplished, on her way back to Barcelona to reunite with her new husband, Anton Dubec, a Ukrainian oligarch with a more-than-doubtful past. Caleigh is overcome with lust for Anton and an overwhelming desire to make him pay for forcing her to marry him. Caleigh concedes that she lost round one in the marriage wars but is determined to never again play on the losing side.
Caleigh makes an unexpected trip to the Caribbean, where she is surprised to find out that she has a stepsister, Ruben’s daughter Alia. But as soon as she meets Alia, she needs to play big sister to protect her from one of Anton’s henchmen, Maksym Andrich, who arrives to rescue Caleigh and is hit with a thunderbolt when he sees the eighteen-year-old Alia.
“Murder at the Top of the Stairs” was the first of this series of international crime novels set in the implausible but true intersections between Eastern European crime lords and global mega-rich society. The book tells the story of an heiress who inadvertently witnessed a crime and is forced to join a shady undercover government unit.
In the second novel, “Murder in Mallorca,” Caleigh is in Barcelona, Spain, swimming in a film-nourish world of minor Spanish royalty, s*x clubs, and human trafficking (as advertised in the travel brochures).
Book four of the series, "Murder in Windsor," was published in February 2022.
Book five in the series “Murder Outside Oxford” was published in July 2022.
