Common misconceptions about being a content creator in 2022 🤫

Being a creator takes time, patients, brain power and consistency. From the outside, being a creator looks like the dream job because of the perks that come from it, like the free products and the lucrative brand deals. However the work that goes into taking eye catching photos and making the perfect TikTok or YouTube video is harder than most think. Knowing this before starting your content creation journey will put you in the correct mind frame to be successful.

🙅‍♀️ It’s oversaturated

This feels like a misconception that has been around for years now that is still untrue. THEIR IS SPACE FOR ANYONE AND EVERYONE. Each individual who decides to become a content creator can offer something different to the niche they are entering so the amount of people in this niche already is irrelevant. Furthermore if your niche is considered oversaturated then this can be looked at as a positive because it most likely means it is highly profitable.

🙅‍♀️More followers = more money

This couldn’t be further from the truth, yet this a pretty common misconception. Having a lot of followers is only profitable for those who have high levels of engagement and are constantly getting brand deals. However brands don’t just work with creators with hundreds of thousands of followers. Micro-influencers get paid too. Furthermore, some micro influencers have higher audience quality than pages with millions of followers so they could potentially be making more than them.

🙅‍♀️ If you build it they will come.

Another common myth about being a content creator is that if you spend a lot of time trying to build an audience you will be rewarded handsomely for it by an influx of new followers and a boost in your engagement. For most, this is far from the truth. You could spend years being consistent and doing what you think will help you grow only to progress very little. This shouldn’t discourage you however it should just definitely be something to keep in mind.
