Tucson Meet Yourself folklife festival is drawing near for the 39th annual celebration of living traditional arts and expressions of everyday life of the folk and ethnic communities of the Arizona-Sonoran region.

Among the many features of the 2012 three-day festival, we are working hard to install an effective Green plan.

However, to make this plan successful we need your support and assistance.

We are seeking potential volunteers, individuals and groups, who are already active in waste reduction, recycling and/or composting... People who are passionate about helping to educate the public and assist with recycle/waste management.

We would appreciate if you could share our request for volunteers with your list of community minded supporters, in the hope that we can sign up another 50 Green Guide Volunteers.

Anyone interested may register as a Green Team Volunteer online at www.TucsonMeetYourself.org
Please mention "Green Guides" on your application.

Note: Various other volunteer assignments are also available.

Thank you

Now soliciting suggestions, ideas, and questions about the cultural expressions of children for Tucson Meet Yourself's newest festival addition, KIDLORE, celebrating the culture of kids ages 0-14. What do kids from our region eat, sing, play, tell stories about, make jokes about, create with their hands, listen to, move to, want adults to know? Parents, educators, kids, child-like adults, and cultural observers, send along your ideas, observations, and questions about local KidLore to KidLore coordinator, [email protected]. [OR POST BELOW]. And be sure to visit us at this year's Tucson Meet Yourself!

Ever wonder how the magnificent, humongous, inclusive schedule of performances at Tucson Meet Yourself come together? * We caught TMY Production Director Mia Hansen in her office/studio doing it the old-fashion way: paper taped to the wall and lots of colored post-its. This year, look for authentic traditional music and dance at 6 stages [plus Pow-Wow Arena, DJ tent at Meet the Street, Culture Kitchen stage, and Lecture Hall at Pima County Building].
