The Headington Shark is a rooftop sculpture located at 2 New High Street, Headington, Oxford, England, depicting a large shark (25 foot to be specific) embedded head-first in the roof of a house.
It’s creepy, but it has become a piece of history for Oxford! It had ‘crashed into the roof’ without planning permission, in August 1986, the 41st anniversary of the dropping of the second atomic bomb on Nagasaki. It was a creative protest, and that is what I found exciting. A piece of art disapproving to world events becoming iconic but controversial.
