Congratulations to senior Paige Athey for winning the Gloucester County Art League Scholarship at today’s opening reception for student art at the Galleria in Deptford. Check out the exhibit, where Paige is a featured artist, and see student work from Mrs. O’Malley’s Art 3 classes as well! Up through July!

Today PHS held it’s 67th Annual Brotherhood Award assembly. PHS Alumni and NJ Senator John Burzichelli gave the keynote address, emphasizing that anyone from Paulsboro can go far in life when you carry kindness. Congratulations to Taylor Strickland for winning the award overall! As nominee Antonio Pandolfo said, “Go big red!”

For this year’s spring concert, the Paulsboro High School Concert Choir will be combining with the Lindenwold High School Concert Choir to present the Mass No.2 in G Major by Franz Schubert. We will be presenting the concert at each school, May 8 at PHS and May 15 at LHS, 7:00pm both nights. Admission is free, but tickets are required, and can be obtained by contacting either school’s choral director. We hope to see alumni there!

Congrats to all of the seniors in Mrs. O’Malley’s Art 4 classes on their senior show, happening next week through the month of May at Gill Memorial Library. Closing reception will be May 30th at 5pm. Expect to see great art, eat great food and listen to a new musical group emerging from Mrs Ouellette’s music room- a flute quartet! Save the date!

-share the good news (there is a lot of it) as fast as you would share negative news.

-pause and think before you bash a losing season or test score in a post- is this necessary?

-attend back to school night/ parent teacher conferences/ board meetings to be better informed. Support teachers and administration if there is an issue with your child. Work together to resolve any issues. Your child is cared for and loved in our buildings, we promise.

-if you don’t have a child in the schools and are gleefully sharing negative posts about the schools… realize your last experience is when you were a hormonal teen student and maybe don’t have a good foot to stand on in the matter.

-school is what the student and the family behind the student put into it. Our district graduates students every year who succeed in their endeavors. Yesterday, today and tomorrow.
