Jolene and I were married in Clive on Sept. 30, 1995. And, yes, this will be our 30-year anniversary. Jolene’s parents, Dean and Lois Porath, lived at Lake Panorama at the time, but we never even considered a lake wedding. I am not sure why. Maybe late September was pushing it for an outdoor wedding, but, more than likely, the decision had to do with our focus on being truly independent from our parents. GREAT WEATHER FOR ANNUAL HOLIDAY HOME TOUR

Spring-like temperatures on Sunday, Dec. 8, resulted in good participation in the annual holiday tour of homes sponsored by Women for Panora’s Future (WFPF). A total of $2,000 was raised through sales of both tour and raffle tickets. This matched the amount raised in 2023 with both years representing the most money ever raised by the home tour. The recent blast of arctic air is growing ice on lakes and ponds across the northern two-thirds of Iowa. Outdoor ice enthusiasts are ready to get out ice fishing, snowmobiling, ice skating or fat-tire bike riding. SANTA MADE IT!

After a weeklong delay, Santa Claus finally made his way to the Panora Community Center on Saturday, Dec. 21 as part of the Santa’s Workshop event, which was hosted by the Panora Chamber of Commerce. A free will pancake breakfast was held along with Camp Candy Cane Crafts. Proceeds from the breakfast are going to the Panora Christmas Light fund for continued improvements.
