1 Timothy 6:6
But godliness with contentment is great gain.
One of the keys to happiness in this dispensation is contentment; be happy with what ever level God has brought you at the moment even as you aspire high.
We are in a dispensation where this so much pressure of worldly success at any cost not minding what you do so long as you succeed.
There’s pressure from friends, colleagues, neighbors, and even family. If you don’t practice contentment you’ll give in to pressure.
What are the keys to practicing contentment?
1. Avoid competition or a competitive lifestyle. A competitive lifestyle puts you on pressure when you can not meet up and opens you up to the spirit of bitterness and resentment. I remember years ago I had a pastor friend who whenever I visit his church he’ll tell me …’ oh today we had 200 in attendance; see that generator we just bought it, and the next thing he’ll ask me how was yours’, and he’ll continue on and on; and it was so fleshy of him, and whenever he visits in return instead of him to focus on kingdom assignment he’ll be comparing and contrasting with time I had to give him distance to avoid pressure and not to Miss kingdom priority.
2. Avoid pressure. Anyone or anything that will put you on pressure please avoid whether friends, colleagues, neighbors or family members. One thing you must understand no matter how you push yourself because of people if you die tomorrow they’ll forget you and move on.
3. Avoid trying to please people. Please settle this in your heart that who will love you will love you and who will hate you will hate you no matter what you do whether friends, colleagues, neighbors, or even family members. One thing I’ve discovered in life is that you can never please everybody no matter how hard you try. So now I focus on people who care and value me.
In all these remember that godliness with contentment is great gain.
