Rome wasn't built in a day...nor was our 3D model of the last years of Republic Rome!

The image depicts the sacred Vestal Virgins arriving outside the Temple of Vesta, which housed the Vesta's holy fire, a symbol of Rome's safety and prosperity.

This ultra-high-detailed image was created using a CGI workflow - not Generative AI.

Computer-generated 3D reconstruction of Rome during the final years of the Roman Republic. The shot features the Theatre of Pompey. The first marble theatre in Rome, and beyond, the Curia of Pompey - The political meeting location where Julius Caesar was assassinated in 44 BC.

It is said the Theatre of Pompey had a capacity of 22 thousand people and was actively used for nearly 600 years.

Ides of March - On this day in history (March 15, 44 B.C.E.), Julius Caesar was assassinated by Brutus and Cassius and about 40 Roman senators in the Curia of Pompey in ancient Rome.

Enclosed by the large columned porticos was an expansive garden complex of fountains and statues. On the opposite end of the garden complex was the Curia of Pompey. The senate would often use this building along with a number of temples and halls that satisfied the requirements for their formal meetings.

The Baths of Nero (Thermae Neronis) or Baths of Alexander (Thermae Alexandrinae) were a complex of ancient Roman baths on the Campus Martius in Rome, built by Nero in either 62 or 64 and rebuilt by Alexander Severus in 227 or 229.

The aerial imagery has been generated from a detailed digital 3D model of ancient Rome, reconstructing the city in all its glory.

Ancient Rome - Capitoline Hill

Capitoline Hill
It was built in 509 BC and was nearly as large as the Parthenon. The hill and the temple of Jupiter became the symbols of Rome, the capital of the world. The Temple of Saturn was built at the foot of Capitoline Hill at the western end of the Forum Romanum.

The aerial imagery has been generated from a detailed digital 3D model of ancient Rome, reconstructing the city in all its glory.

Here's a quick test shot created in V-Ray Chaos Group . The Autodesk 3ds Max model was exported as a VRScene file and imported into Project Lavina.

We are using the software to explore and inspect our 3D model as we continue to update it, street by street. This HD shot was rendered on a single workstation with an RTX 2080 Ti and 64GB ram.

We’ve continued to update and add detail to our ongoing Ancient Rome project. This is a detailed 3D model of the entire city and surrounding area, detailed to street level.

Stock images, 360 panoramas and 4K footage is being made available to license, as well as bespoke commissions for film and tv production. Plus we’re developing an interactive educational APP for teachers to engage the kids with a bit of ‘boring’ history! (Which we love 🙂). https://urbanvfx.com

The entire 3D masterplan, as seen in a previous post, has been meticulously modelled using Autodesk 3ds Max, SiNi Software and V-Ray Chaos Group.

It's exciting to reveal a project we've been working on for some time. This is one of the largest regeneration projects in Europe, Wembley Park.

Technically, the project is an enormous 3D build with 50+ hero buildings, the detailed environment and surrounding London context built using Autodesk 3ds Max, V-Ray Chaos Group and SiNi Software.

The interactive development was produced in Unity with partners Lucid Environments. We'll reveal more soon!
