Rethinking Leave No Trace guidelines…🌿🌲

We’ve all heard of ‘Leave No Trace’ (LNT), the guiding principles for outdoor enthusiasts to minimize their impact on nature.

But is it time to reassess this well-known ethic?

Here’s a few reasons why we need to think deeper:

1️⃣ The Myth of Zero Impact: LNT promotes the ideal that we can interact with nature without leaving any trace. But is this truly achievable? Our very presence in natural spaces, no matter how cautious, has some impact on the ecosystem. Outdoor spaces have been shaped by 100s of years of cultivation and human interaction. It’s a delicate balance, and perhaps it’s more about mindful interaction than striving for an impossible zero impact.

2️⃣ Disconnection from Nature: While LNT aims to preserve nature, it might unintentionally create a barrier between us and the natural world. If we’re constantly worried about not leaving any trace, do we risk losing our sense of connection and curiosity about the environment? Nature should be experienced and appreciated, not just observed from a distance.

3️⃣ Inclusivity and Access: LNT, though well-intentioned, often overlooks broader socio-cultural contexts. Outdoor recreation, as it stands, can be exclusive, with barriers like expensive gear and lack of diverse representation. LNT principles, developed from a Western perspective, does not consider different cultural relationships with nature. It’s crucial to make outdoor spaces welcoming and accessible to everyone, respecting various cultural practices and connections to the land.

On a last note:

It’s not just about leaving no trace; it’s about conscious coexistence and inclusive stewardship of our natural world.

Content break time for me! 🎄❄️💙

I’ll be starting a small holiday vacation as of today and taking a bit of a break from being and posting on this platform to recharge.

But I’ll be sharing some stories here and there and keeping in touch!

I’m going to take this time to relax and be more in the moment with family and friends for Christmas! 🤍

Thank you for being here and wishing you all happy holidays!

📍 Highway 11 during a storm with no cars in sight

I want to start this post by saying how much I love Ontario, my home, and ever since starting this page, I’ve wanted nothing else but to share my experiences here to show you that love and appreciation I have for this beautiful province.

I recognize it’s hard times right now for many Canadians. Travelling is expensive - even local travel as well. The cost of gas and mileage etc… on top of that living costs can be a lot. It’s one reason I cannot do this full time since funding it would require a lot of disposable income that I don’t have! I also recognize that what I have and all the travelling I do is a privilege that isn’t given to many.

But what I have accomplished so far - is because of all of you. I couldn’t have done all this without you all supporting my page on here. It’s just how things work on this platform.

Same goes for sponsorships as well. Being able to monetize on here has helped me reach places in Ontario I otherwise couldn’t afford.

I am grateful for all the opportunities and I hope to keep sharing and inspiring you to get outdoors and see this beautiful province and perhaps beyond as well. 🤍

As always, thank you for being here!

My kind of tropical beach getaway 🏝️❄️

📍 Bruce Peninsula National Park, Ontario 🇨🇦

Truth be told I was freezing in this photo to the point where I could not stand still for a photo! The winds were strong and this is me running away from the waves from the lake!

Keep warm this winter!

If you’re going to visit this place - I recommend crampons or some kind of grips on your boots/shoes. But it’s up to you and the risk is yours. 🤍❄️

Just hangin’ around some sticks 🪵

📍 West Beach, Ontario 🇨🇦

This photo was taken before I became a content creator on here. It was a time when I visited outdoor spaces without worrying if they were perfect enough for Instagram. I truly enjoyed sharing all those places with all of you. And I still do.

I sometimes miss those moments. And I still have not lost my true intentions behind this page, but it’s evolved since then, for the better. I’ve learned so much along the way. I wouldn’t go back now.

FYI, this is a good sunset spot!

One cool thing about having many homes in the world is that you get to leave a part of your heart in each one!

And then when you go back for a visit, it’s like you never left.

📍Tannourine, Lebanon 🇱🇧

Sidenote:

I’ve always been a fan of sunrise hikes but sunset hikes are kind of cool cause once the sun goes down … you get to walk under a sky full of stars or be illuminated by a full moon.

You kind of get the best of the day and night in a short span of time.

What do you think? Am I wrong?

The Levant region is a paradise. 🤍

If you ever have the chance or opportunity to visit the Middle East, it has the potential to turn your world upside down. The people, the nature, the culture, the history, the food… everything about it, is pure magic and can be felt at every waking moment.

But I say this cause that’s my roots and I’m biased. I also lived there too at one time in my life!

No wonder there’s historically been many cultures and religions wanting and fighting over this beautiful piece of land.

It’s too beautiful to lose and never see again.

I am heartbroken to hear about the vandalism of some of the 1000 year old ancient Indigenous markings at Mazinaw Rock in .

There are NO words but mix feelings of disappointment, sadness, rage…

Mazinaw Rock is a sacred place for Indigenous people. And for millennia, people have been drawn to the rugged beauty of the cliffs. There are more than 260 Indigenous pictographs at Mazinaw Rock and this site is very important for Indigenous knowledge, ceremony, spiritualism and cultural identity.

Mazinaw" meaning "picture" or "writing" in Algonquin beautifully captures the essence of this historic landmark.

It is also the largest pictograph site in the southern Canadian Shield and the sole major pictograph site in southern Ontario.

Together, let’s preserve, respect and protect Mazinaw Rock and all other natural landscapes.

Remember to always leave nature with grace. 🧡

I’ve gotten a lot of questions about my and let me tell you something, honestly.

It’s a GAME CHANGER.

Ever since receiving my , I’ve been able to go on many cool paddling adventures around Ontario - to hikes only accessible by water.

There is something about folding and unfolding a kayak the size of a shopping bag and packing it easily in your car like you do everything else!

The set up takes me about 10 minutes tops and then I’m ready to go out on the water. And then packing it takes 10 minutes and I’m ready to go when I’m done!

Did I mention it’s like super light to carry? 25 pounds!

I’m super excited to take it paddling during the fall foliage! 🍂🍁

Embrace the heat and conquer the trails! 🥾☀️

And don’t leave the bug spray at home! 🦟

It’s been feeling like summer these past weeks and I’ve been busy getting my summer hiking wardrobe ready for all the cool summer adventures I have planned!

I actually struggle on what to wear for summer hikes…and usually just wear what I have already.

One of my least favorite things about summer hiking, is not only the bugs but also the sweat marks on my t-shirts right under arms pits and back which is why it’s important for me to wear clothing that is sweat proof and breathable!

I decided to try out comfortable no-sweat shorts and smooth fabric tee crew! And I was not disappointed - especially under some strong sun rays at this classic Ontario lookout!!

What do you wear on your summer hikes?

Happy Fri-Yay before a long weekend!

📍 Hadath el Jebbeh, Lebanon 🇱🇧

I’ve been back in Canada for a week now - and I’ve been busy re-adjusting to routine.

Also, experiencing some travels blues of missing my family dearly. Specially my grandparents whom I don’t get to see often.

I am back in school and work full time and it’s just been rush rush rush.

I’m slowing down this long weekend and going backcountry hiking and collaborating with one of my favourite places to stay in Algonquin! 🤍

I have a lot planned this summer for Ontario - many bucket list hikes I want to do!

As always, I am always happy to share my beautiful adventures around Ontario with all of you! 🤍

Tell me, where are you going next in Ontario? 🥾 Or in the world? ✈️

A turquoise lake in the clouds! 🏔

📍 Chabrouh Dam, Lebanon 🇱🇧

Can you believe this lake is located in Lebanon?

I was visiting a ski resort area called Faraya and the locals told me to drive up the mountain to this hidden turquoise lake in the clouds!

It reminded me a bit of Canada! 🤍

Looking forward to coming back home soon for more Ontario adventures!

If you asked me 10 years ago if Lebanon was on my hiking bucket list - I would have said no.

I regret that, greatly.
