Millions of people tune in to The Bachelorette every season.

Every season, the same debate comes up on social media, "is the show real or scripted?"

We asked Jason Tartick – a contestant from Season 14 – what it was REALLY like filming the hit show.

Josh Peck rose to near-instant fame when he starred for four seasons as the comedic center of Nickelodeon’s hit show Drake & Josh. However, while he tried to maintain his role as the funniest, happiest kid in every room, Josh struggled alone with the kind of rising anger and plummeting confidence that quietly took over his life.

For the first time, Josh reflects on his late teens and early 20s. Raised by a single mother and coming of age under a spotlight that could be both invigorating and cruel, Josh filled the cratering hole in his self-worth with copious amounts of food, television, drugs, and all of the other trappings of young stardom. Until he realized the only person standing in his way...was himself. Today, with a string of lead roles on hit television shows and movies, and one of the most enviable and dedicated fanbases on the internet, Josh Peck is more than happy - he’s finally, enthusiastically content.

Happy People are Annoying is the culmination of years of learning, growing, and finding bright spots in the scary parts of life. Written with the kind of humor, strength of character, and unwavering self-awareness only someone who has mastered their ego can muster, this memoir reminds us of the life-changing freedom on the other side of acceptance.

The looming threat of “not being in God’s will” hanged over everyone who ever questioned the religious denomination we grew up in.

It often halted any genuine questioning from taking place - especially whenever something sinister was happening within the church.

There was never a valid reason to question.

Never a valid reason to second guess.

Never a valid reason to leave.

What’s the best argument you’ve heard for the existence of God?

28/03/2022

If you grew up as a woman within purity culture...

You were taught your entire life...

– You are not allowed to be s*xual ever. S*x is for men, not for women
– You are never allowed to move your body in a s*xual way.
– You're supposed to cover yourself up all the time.

Then... you got married.

Now, you're COMMANDED to

– Be a s*x goddess
– Be a stripper for your husband like
– You're his personal pornstar.
– Have s*x because that will keep your husband loyal

That drastic shift and strong expectations on both sides result in confidence issues, insecurities, and – let's be honest – awful s*x.

What were you taught about s*x and relationships growing up?

“Never undervalue the idea of partners. Understanding your strengths and then going out trying to find like-minded people who will be another pillar of your success.” - Rob Dyrdek

The moment you realize you don’t have it all figured out can paralyze you.

You feel stuck.

Scared.

Often, alone.

“How can I move forward in life without having it all figured out?”

Here’s a beautiful truth:

You don’t have to have all the answers.

The world isn’t black and white.

The journey for truth takes a lifetime.

Don’t rob yourself of all the joy and beauty of discovering those truths for yourself by setting everything within the rigid structure of your pre-existing belief system.

In Will Smith's book (aptly titled, Will) he puts it plainly,

“By universal design you are born into a perplexing situation, bewildered, and you have one job as a human. FIGURE THIS S**T OUT. Life is learning. Period. Overcoming ignorance is the whole point of the journey. You’re not supposed to know at the beginning. The whole point of venturing into uncertainty is to bring light to the darkness of our ignorance.”

Notice that keyword, “journey.”

It’s going to take you a minute to figure this s**t out.

Ask tough questions. Examine yourself. Research. Study.

But most importantly, learn to love that process.
