Biafra: Pete Edochie, Chiwetalu Agu, Others Feature in Block Buster 'The Rising Sun'

The Rising Sun, a movie directed and produced by C.O.L.D, is set to hit cinemas soon with a fusion of old and new casts including Pete Edochie, Chiwetalu Agu, Charles Anwurum , Ebelle Okaro, Uzorimeh, Smith Nnebe.

Others featured in the star-studded film are Farielysian, Adaeze Onuigbo, Maximus John, Chioma Okafor, and Snow Whiteey among others.

The Rising Sun is the story of a slave camp at the heart of the Bight of Biafra in late 1700.

Based on true events, a woman champions the course and stands up to British tyranny even in the face of death.

Can she trust the son of the very man she calls master in her quest to liberate and restore their dignity in the land of The Rising Sun?

My fellow Ebonyians,

I thank you for your show of support in coming out to vote en-masse in the March 18 gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections. I remain grateful for your goodwill and belief in our mission to recover Ebonyi state.

I am saddened by the numerous reports of loss of life, damage to property and injury to voters and citizens recorded all over the State.

The Saturday elections have once again exposed the magnitude of our security and governance challenges in Ebonyi state, which has become a standard under the APC-led regime. Undemocratic forces seeking to capture the soul of our society are afraid to face the people in a free and fair election, so they use violence and intimidation to impose their agenda. We cannot allow this unfolding pattern of “governance by violence” to become our new reality.

I am a man of peace, and violence is not associated with my personality. Events might not be going the way we would like them to, but we must remain calm and look for solutions within the law. We cannot emulate the murderous tactics of the APC regime and their gang of conspirators.

Though victory may be delayed, it cannot be denied. The people’s mandate remains our mission. We will not be deterred. The Promise of Possibility remains alive and strong. By the grace of God, the will of the people shall prevail. Anyi g’emeya.

APC completely cleared Izzi, Ebonyi LGAs. They're leading in Ohaukwu LGA and Afikpo South LGA. APC is biting on almost equal proportion with PDP in Ikwo LGA.

Segun Runsewe, the Director-General of the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAA), has asked the House of Representatives to give his council powers to go after organizers of Big Brother Nigeria over n in the reality TV show.

Runsewe, who made the call on Tuesday, October 4, also seek power to go after crossdressers like Bobrisky.

While appearing before an ad hoc committee investigating the duplication of ministries, departments and agencies, Runsewe stated that n as displayed by the organizer of the popular show is against the culture of Nigeria.

The DG stated that proper amendment of the council’s act will allow them to go after BBN organizers and crossdressers like Bobrisky.

“I am the first person who took Big Brother Nigeria to the NBC to report them because they were having… I took it up and Big Brother (organisers) tried to reach me and I told them that if the culture in other parts of the world is to be n@ked – n , etc., they should not bring it to Nigeria because our culture is rich and it respects the integrity of our country.

The Central Bank of Nigeria has threatened to arrest and prosecute Nigerians using naira to buy dollars.

“For those taking money from banks to buy dollars, it is illegal to do so. If the security agencies hold you, you will know the implication of that,” Godwin Emefiele, CBN governor, said Tuesday at the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting in Lagos.

Reading the riot act to bank customers, Mr Emefiele urged Nigerians illegally exchanging naira for dollar to stop, adding that the apex bank would conduct investigations and bar those found culpable from conducting transactions in Nigerian banks.

Mr Emefiele disclosed the apex bank’s monitoring of customers and banks, warning that the CBN would sanction banks caught in illegal transactions.

“We will conduct investigations, and we will have proof, and you will not be able to conduct transactions in any Nigerian bank. We will place ‘post no debit’ on the defaulting customer’s account. It is a very injurious tool to stop you from conducting illegal flows, either domestic or foreign currency,” added the CBN governor.

The warning followed the central bank’s efforts to prevent further deterioration of the naira’s value and the country’s economy.

The naira on Monday crashed to a historic low at the parallel market, exchanging for N620 against the U.S. dollar, according to the exchange platform Aboki Forex.

The CBN, in July 2021, stopped foreign exchange transactions with bureaux de change.
