In the heart of Ladakh, beneath the expansive canvas of open sky, a night unfolded, shrouded in darkness & dreams. On one side, tents held the promise of lifelong memories, while on the other, the Zanskar River roared like a melodic symphony, echoing through the frozen landscape.
In the extreme valleys, where visibility was nonexistent, the frigid night discouraged most from venturing out of their warm cocoons. Yet, there was a fearless soul, bundled in layers, determined to witness a spectacle that might never grace the eyes again and that might never get served by the universe on the same dining table again.
Braving -30°C nights, the intrepid boy emerged from his tent, facing an immediate slap of freezing winds like they were yelling how dare he come out of the tent. When his legs were refusing to step forward, and his eyes were struggling to see through the darkness, undeterred, he ventured towards the centre of the frozen river, armed with a peculiar device – a 'camera.' He fixed that device onto another thing, having three legs, and I don't know what that mad boy was doing when everyone was sleeping. Amidst the biting cold, he kept looking into the mild glow of the device, then looking up and waiting for some time and then again looking at it the same way. He was trying to repeat or achieve something but failing.
For an hour, he persisted, his expressions shifting from delight & disappointment to satisfaction. But I'm sure he was doing something he was very well aware of & will not regret later. About an hour later, he returned smiling in his tent in the nights when even your breath freezes down. His peculiar activity went unnoticed by slumbering companions.
But I'm sure what he saw last night was something surreal, unbelievable & serene that nature never always offers. And I'm happy to see that the boy LIVED A LIFE THERE. ❤
