Scientists from the Imperial Department of Military Research have been instructed to create a super soldier capable of taking down a rebel base in a short time, the Tarkin Initiative has provided aged veterans of the Clone Wars to undergo the biological upgrade.

Overseen by Lieutenant Rom Mohc, the Dark Trooper Project has mobilized a group of scientists towards an old droid factory on the planet Hypori. Using an unfinished Techno Union project as a reference, the Veteran Clones will be mutilated and transformed into mechanical weapons.

Platoons of Dark Troopers are dispatched on their first missions to multiple rebel systems, drawing the attention of the Rebel Alliance after the attack on the Tak Base. Fearing for the integrity of the project, the Tarkin Initiative moves the headquarters to the ISS Empirical.
