Finding your purpose can be one of the most gratifying feelings in the world. Sometimes, clues and hints to our reason for existing sit around us. Life also tends to push us towards our God-given purpose.

Certain talents, like heirlooms, are often passed down from generation to generation. This proved to be true for Tamari Tsitsi (nee Muchini) Madiro TsiTsi Madiro Music who, combining her song writing skills with a captivatingly mellow voice, uses her gift to praise and worship in the house of the Lord.

Since a young age, Tsitsi bore an affinity for singing and music. Being part of a family that was in the Seventh-day Adventist Church, helped her realise her fondness for singing in an acapella setup. Juxtaposed to the church she was in; she did not have that personal relationship with God. As she said “Worship provoked me a desire to know God more.” Consequently, she began to listen to more of this worship music. Through this she developed a hunger for the word of God.

Fast forward to her post-high school life, she found herself willing to further her education. It was at COSA college where she met Catherine Tapedzisa who invited her to her place of worship, Celebration International Ministries. A single visit eventually turned into a permanent membership. After surmounting challenges that stemmed from the adjustment, Tsitsi was baptised and she found her place in the choir. Celebration Ministries International expanded and another congregation was established in Westgate: Celebration Church Zimbabwe. During this transition, she was appointed as one of the worship leaders. The pressure that came with this position pushed her into growing as a worshiper. As she continued to mature as a worshiper, she started exploring the art of song writing. Poetry and scripture-based songs grew into songs about her experiences and relationship with God. Despite not being confident about sharing her songs with people she took a leap of faith and took one of her songs to a renowned Zimbabwean artist who then told her that her song was not good enough. Because she had gone to him with an open heart, she felt the keen sting of the discouragement and disappointment. She described this as an experience that forced her to go back into her "safe place" and was afraid to step out. Through her experiences, Tsitsi has come to believe that when God calls you for a certain purpose, you will find yourself gravitating towards that purpose. During an end of year church service, Tsitsi was asked to sing for the congregation. A sequence of coincidences led her and a team of vocalists to sing one of Tsitsi original songs. At this time, she decided to bring out the same song that had been deemed not good enough. Being a relatively ways song to learn, the team of musicians she was working were playing it in no time. She described the experience a amazing and she admits to being shaken by the impact the song had on the people.

Her journey, like any other, did have its unpleasantness’s. Apart from the time she had to invest in her music career, acquiring sponsorship was another adversity. Producing, marketing and distributing her music requires a bit of money and acquiring sponsorship proved to be a challenge. Tsitsi was, on occasion, offered contracts that were not conducive enough for her to sign. Despite all of this, she still encourages other artists to be true to themselves and their kind of music, even though, the pressure to be like everyone else may arise. She tells artists to be all that God created them to be and to stay focused on the real goal which is to do His will.

Tsitsi has a deep-set desire to worship God and have people encounter God through her music. For her, it’s not about the fame or her. She believes that her music is and should just be a gateway through which God can interact with people as they worship. She acknowledges that there does exist some element of politicking in churches but she believes that we were called to do more than focus on this politics; we were called to do the will of God.
She has worked with established musicians over the years; OFFICIAL Nicole C. Mullen and Sinach being part of this list. She still, however, maintains an amiable meekness. Over the years she has developed her song writing into music and recently released her first released single titled Worthy of Praise. This track is described as being different to her more profound worship music. This song sprung put from the aspect of lifting up his name in unity.
"Regardless of our different ethnicities, we will stand before the Lord and we will shout our praises to Him, as one..."

THE EFFECT OF GENERATIONAL GAP TO THE GROWING KIDS

We have a social media generation of self-expression, freedom of speech through posts, statuses, likes, and comments on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc. Standing on the other side is firmly rooted and grounded in tradition. The former feeling unheard by their parents or elders turns to social media rants to "blow off steam" and feel like their voice matters. This is just one of the many negative effects of the generational gap.

The evolution of culture has widened the generational gap even further. What the technological generation deems as expressing themselves, the traditional generation calls disrespect e.g. When your elders are talking you keep quiet Don’t talk back at your elders “Munhu Mukuru haanyepi” (Elders don't lie). The generational gap has had an effect on growing up kids because of many reasons but the outstanding factor has been the lack of communication between parents and children. We have seen that due to culture evolving it has caused a huge gap between generations which can no longer be filled.

What the older generation and the younger generation might find exciting or amusing might not be appreciated by the older generation. A lot has changed in terms of how this generation is educated, socialize or interact. We have seen the effect of generational gap been for good and also for bad. The merits of the generational gap have been the fact that things have evolved and it has been easier for the current generation to have access to things for instance our parents used to travel several kilometers just to go to school but now people can even learn over the internet which is progress. The significant misfortune of generational gap has been the fact that this generation has been pulled away from its heritage and that has caused a black hole in terms of our culture.

The generational gap will always have an effect on the growing up kids because little by little our culture will always be stripped away. Preserving our norms and values have been at the center of our core beliefs. Culture plays a significant role in societies but however, we have seen our culture being eradicated and also evolving due to the Generational gap.

THE AFRICAN FATHER

He had a vision,
Like any educated man,
A vision fit enough to run.
But the race track of an economy on drought
Where everyone struggled to put food on the table...
For one more night,
While their bank accounts suffered from anorexia,
Made it impossible to reach the finish line.

No longer survival of the smartest,
Brains were not going to put food on the table,
Or bring warmth to a home whose fire had long burnt out,
A house with hunger sitting at the dinner table
Like an unwanted guest
Overstaying his welcome.

No!
Giving up was not an option,
Not for an able-bodied man,
With no desire to arrive home to three children,
On empty hands.
So he did what he had to do,
To prevent the chainsaw of resentment that had taken residence inside his home,
From cutting down his family tree.

He crossed crocodile infested waters,
Swam for his life,
To give my siblings and i,
A better one.

18 April 1980 remains just another date still for we somehow traded one oppressor for another. It's no longer the White Man's fault No!! This time it's our own people's fault. It's our fault. Our fault for believing in the lies they feed us time and time again. We, a people suffering from Bartered Nation Syndrome we keep supporting our abusers over and over again. They whisper sweet nothings in our ears and we swallow them - desperate for something to eat.

How is it that your vote still means nothing? That your voice still means nothing? That freedom of speech is only free when what you say is what They want to hear? How is it that those sworn to protect are the ones causing the most harm?
How is it that they still blame colonization for their misdeeds? How is it that the very law that is meant to protect and serve the common man is now nothing but a cruel joke?!!

But is this enough? That we only oust one man when the whole system is corrupt, flawed. Have we forgotten that it was only a few years ago that we removed former President Mugabe from his position? How did we trade the devil we knew for the one we didn't?

Nothing will change unless we do something but unfortunately when we mention Zimbabweans the soldiers and police choose to exclude themselves as if they are living in a perfect country!! As if their salaries buy something!! Instead of standing with the people they stand with the corrupt system they have shed blood to maintain. But divided we fall and we are falling. First our economy, now us, our brothers and sisters are dying, being thrown in jail for speaking the truth, for fighting for this nation despite the shame that now comes attached to the name Zimbabwean. A once flourishing and promising nation has been reduced to ashes. No Jobs. No Money. No Hope. Well unless we do something about it.

The world of pageantry had been marked by misconceptions, theories, half-truths at least from one on the outside looking in. But is it all superficial? All about beauty and portraying women as sexual beings with nothing more to offer than their bodies? We had to dig deep and find first-hand answers to our questions from the outgoing 2019 Miss Harare Grand herself.

Stay Home.Stay Safe
Stay Home.Stay Safe
Stay Home.Stay Safe

This phrase has been repeated over and over again. We have celebrities parroting it on almost every television channel. Corona Virus has shook everyone to the core and humbled us all. Wealthy people and poor people alike, we have all been reduced to the same level and reminded of who we really are; mere human beings. Flesh and blood and therefore temporary. Here today-gone tomorrow. As a people we were all used to wearing masks everyday, be it in the form of a smile, a stern look or even make up. However, Covid-19 has just made us substitute these for real ones.

National leaders, in their efforts to curb the spread of this life threatening virus, closed their borders and told their citizens to stay at home, because home is the safest place to be in the middle of a pandemic. But is it? Is it really safe? From Corona Virus maybe...

However, while we were suspended in this Covid-19 bubble, we somehow forgot that there are other terrifying things like child abuse and gender based violence all of which have escalated. 2500 cases of abuses have been reported for both women and children at Msasa Hospital in Harare alone since the implementation of the nationwide lockdown.
NOT EVERYONE WHO IS HOME IS SAFE! This is the reality we have to face!

Children are vulnerable during these trying times and our justice system is not the most reliable at the moment with every focus being directed towards curbing the spread of the life threatening virus that is Corona. Yet child molestation, sexual abuse and domestic violence have been "viruses" that have been infesting our society for years. But what did we do about it? What measures were put in place to protect vulnerable children during this lockdown? It is said that most of the children abused are violated by someone they know, someone they trusted or someone they respected.
