The theme for World Tourism Day this year is "Tourism and Rural Development".
It emphasizes on the unique role that tourism plays in providing opportunities outside big cities and preserving cultural and natural heritage all around the world.
In the photo above we see a typical scene from the picturesque village of Naya, Paschim Medinipur. Naya is a village of traditional Patachitra artists and makes for an ideal day trip where one can spend the day at the community museum, artists' homes learning more about the art.
