If you ever make it to the Paso Robles area of central California, check out Bruce Munro :: Light at Sensorio and bring a camera. It is a very cool experience. PS - it helps to know the moon phase as I was able to plan for a crescent hanging in the western sky at dusk!

NEW RECIPE✨ You’ve got to try the Paper Plane cocktail 😍— think bourbon meets bittersweet Aperol and the intriguing Amaro Nonino, all in one fabulous drink. This modern classic is more than just a pretty face; it’s a flavor adventure.

Back on June 1, 2018, my youngest son Aaron and I flew over Fissure 8 of Kīlauea’s long-lived Pu‘u‘ō‘ō eruption on the first "doors off" helicopter allowed up at dawn that day departing from Hilo, Hawaii's Airport. According the the USGS website: "A large lower East Rift Zone eruption partially drained the summit magma reservoir, which caused portions of the unsupported summit caldera floor to collapse. The event was significant for being the largest lower East Rift Zone eruption and summit collapse in at least 200 years; it was also sadly the most destructive eruption in Hawaii over the same time period." I remember our pilot saying he had been flying tours for 17 years and this was the highest fountain that he had ever seen - well over 200 feet. I remember the pilot asking how close I wanted to get. Jokingly I said, "Can you out me right over the top of it?" I thought there was no way but to my surprise, he did it! This image and more were distributed via Getty images and paid for our trip many times over...

I captured the Milky Way and Magellanic Large and Small Clouds a few weeks ago at Aoraki/Mt. Cook National Park on the South Island of New Zealand. These two large clouds of stars and gas can be seen with the naked eye in the southern hemisphere - it is very cool. They are located at a distance of 200,000 and 160,000 light years from the Milky Way Galaxy (respectively). They are separated by 21 degrees from each other. Join Gary Hart and me next June 25 - July 4 https://shorturl.at/gBTZ4 and see and photograph these amazing clouds for yourself.

A storm passing by on the northern coast of Ireland. What an incredible location this is and one I must return to soon. It is on my door step yet I never seem to find time to go over there.
