Welcome to the world premiere of Q&AI – our interview program where chooses the guest, comes up with the questions and hosts the interview.

We asked (or Chat as it wanted to be known) to identify an expert. It picked UNSW's Professor Toby Walsh as its first guest.

We then asked Chat to come up with interview questions and got it to host Q&AI. The first topic of discussion: what artificial intelligence means for the future of humanity.

“I’m much more concerned about not smart AI, but stupid AI,” Professor Walsh tells Chat in their interview.

Awkward.

The power of an in action.

Framed by the famous Ocean Baths, which are currently being renovated, this picture captures the forces of this weather phenomenon.

More common during autumn and winter, East Coast Lows are one of the more dangerous weather systems to affect Australia’s eastern coast and can intensify rapidly over 12-24 hours.

Five East Coast Lows occurred during June 2007 - a rare if not unprecedented sequence, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

“The Bureau has a detailed database of these lows beginning in 1973,” the says. “Each year there are about ten ‘significant impact’ maritime lows. Generally, only once per year do we see ‘explosive’ development.”
