Through Mark’s teaching, entrepreneurial endeavors and travel to foreign countries, he noticed the power of mental toughness...
.. emotional resilience, intuitive leadership and a healthy spirit for anyone wanting breakthrough performance.

They weren’t solely for combat or restricted to the business world or one culture.

These qualities and practices transform lives of people from every background, nation and belief system.

So he wrote and self-published his first book, Unbeatable Mind, in 2011 and launched its at-home study program.

Three more books poured out in a torrent…

The Way of the SEAL, published by Reader’s Digest, and 8 Weeks to SEALFIT and KOKORO Yoga, both published by St. Martin’s Press.

Writing his experience for others triggered a realization of his own full-circle journey.

Side by side 🇬🇧
Private Emile Corteil served as the dog handler for A Coy, 9th (Essex) Parachute Battalion and looked after ‘Para Dog’ Glen. Both took part in the Normandy landings on June 6, 1944, and safely completed their parachute descent.
The 19-year-old was killed later that day by an Allied aerial assault and his faithful Alsatian died at his side. They were found still linked by Glen’s lead and were buried together at Ranville Commonwealth War Cemetery.
Lest we forget 🌺

The funeral for a D-Day veteran who was "one of the very first to land on Sword Beach" on June 6, 1944 has been held in Sheffield.
Douglas Parker was one of the last survivors who took part in the assault on Sword Beach at H-Hour - the time the amphibious assaults along the Normandy coast began during WWII.
After surviving the assault on Sword Beach, Mr Parker fought through France before taking part in Operation Market Garden with the British 3rd Infantry Division.
Douglas died aged 98 last month.

I know exactly where I was on the 16th of August 1977, when I heard that Elvis Presley had died. I was sitting in my Monaro at traffic lights in Mount Waverley in Melbourne, Victoria, when the news came though on the car radio.

Elvis Presley served in the United States Army between March 1958 and March 1960. At the time of his draft he was the most well-known name in the world of entertainment.

The Navy offered to create a special Elvis Presley Company made up of men from Memphis and his closest friends. They also offered him the chance to perform in Las Vegas, and have his own private quarters. The Army offered Elvis Presley the chance to tour the world and visit Army bases to boost morale among soldiers and encourage other young men to enlist. The Pentagon, too, had been in touch to offer him the opportunity to join Special Services, entertaining the troops without having to actually train as a regular soldier; among many soldiers and veterans it is known as ‘the celebrity wimp-out’.

He decided to serve as a regular soldier. This earned him the respect of many of his fellow soldiers and people back home who had previously viewed him in a negative light.

On January 20, 1960, Elvis Presley was promoted to sergeant. He was asked about his decision to serve as a regular soldier instead of as part of the service club. He said, "I was in a funny position. Actually, that's the only way it could be. People were expecting me to mess up, to goof up in one way or another. They thought I couldn't take it and so forth, and I was determined to go to any limits to prove otherwise, not only to the people who were wondering, but to myself".

During his service, Elvis Presley's life was affected in many ways, beginning with the death of his mother. Not long before he was to be stationed in Germany, Gladys Presley died of a heart attack brought on by acute hepatitis and cirrhosis at age 46. When he was stationed in West Germany, he met his future wife Priscilla Beaulieu.

He donated his Army pay to charity. Elvis Presley will be remembered not only as a great performer with many talents but also as a respected soldier of the U.S. Army.

Today we remember Fusilier Lee Rigby, of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, who was killed on the 22nd May 2013 near the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich, southeast London.

Lee was off duty and walking along Wellington Street when he was attacked by two cowards.

Drummer Lee Rigby or ‘Riggers’ to his friends was born in July 1987 in Crumpsall, Manchester. He joined the Army in 2006 and on successful completion of his infantry training course at Infantry Training Centre Catterick was selected to be a member of the Corps of Drums and posted to 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers (also known as the ‘Second Fusiliers’ or ‘2 RRF’).

His first posting was as a machine gunner in Cyprus where the battalion was serving as the resident infantry battalion in Dhekelia. Having performed a plethora of tasks while in Cyprus, he returned to the UK in the early part of 2008 to Hounslow, West London. Here, Drummer Rigby stood proudly outside the Royal Palaces as part of the Battalion’s public duties commitment. He was an integral member of the Corps of Drums throughout the Battalion’s time on public duties, the highlight of which was being a part of the Household Division’s Beating the Retreat – a real honour for a line infantry Corps of Drums.

In April 2009, Drummer Rigby deployed on Operations for the first time to Helmand province, Afghanistan, where he served as a member of the Fire Support Group in Patrol Base Woqab. On returning to the UK he completed a second tour of public duties and then moved with the Battalion to Celle, Germany, to be held at a state of high readiness for contingency operations as part of the Small Scale Contingency Battle Group.

In 2011, Drummer Rigby took up a Recruiting post in London where he also assisted with duties at Regimental Headquarters in the Tower of London.

An extremely popular and witty soldier, Drummer Rigby was a larger than life personality within the Corps of Drums and was well known, liked and respected across the Second Fusiliers. He was a passionate and life-long Manchester United fan.

Today our thoughts are with his son Jack and the entire family circle.

Today we remember him.
