Curry puffs will be served with yet another chunk of history for Maximilian Maeder, who became the first Singaporean to be named the male Young World Sailor of the Year.
This award caps a brilliant year in which the 18-year-old won an Olympic bronze at Paris 2024 and nine other titles, including the world, European and Asian championships.
Maeder had promised to work at a curry puff stall for a day if he won at the @worldsailingofficial awards, and he will duly keep his promise by serving the pastries at Soon Soon Huat in East Coast on Nov 7.

Liverpool-born footballer Perry Ng will take a major step towards his dream of representing the Singapore national team after the Cardiff City defender confirmed on Sept 2 that he will be applying for Singapore citizenship this week.
On the same day, Ng and BG Tampines Rovers’ Japanese midfielder Kyoga Nakamura, both 28, trained with the Lions at the Kallang Football Hub for the first time in a move that the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) called a “familiarisation stint”.
