As we’re on the countdown to Christmas and we say farewell to another great year, it’s time to shine the spotlight on some of the real stars of EMG – our dedicated and talented team. We asked them what was their highlight of 2023.

This is James. James recently joined EMG as Technical Producer and hit the ground running overseeing the successful delivery of a number of our light entertainment projects since becoming part of the team.

"My highlight of 2023 was the recent series of ‘Winter on the Farm’ at Cannon Hall in Barnsley. We based ourselves there for over a week with NOVA 116 producing one show a night presented by Helen Skelton and Jules Hudson for Channel 5 and Daisybeck Studios. Our rigging team ran in miles of cable all over the farm so we could cover different areas for links with our new OB Buggy, giving the production team a lot more flexibility to explore the farm away from the main studio barn than in previous years. It is always a lovely week working with a brilliant OB crew and production team - everyone stays together in the same hotel and there were some really good nights out in the local town and lots of cute animals - we even had snow! On a personal note it was great to get to know some of my new colleagues after only recently joining the EMG business."

As we’re on the countdown to Christmas and we say farewell to another great year, it’s time to shine the spotlight on some of the real stars of EMG – our dedicated and talented team. We asked them what was their highlight of 2023.

This is Ash. Ash is Finance Manager and has been with EMG for seven years, starting out in Accounts Payable. She is heavily involved in forecasting and month end reporting and has recently taken on the role of Finance Manager for EMG USA.

“My highlight of 2023 is being part of a team whom I feel so comfortable with. I have made so many friends at EMG and this company has really brought me out of my shell. When I first started, I was a shy young girl, scared to approach anyone, but now, I have never felt more confident to spark up a conversation. I am so grateful to have progressed in my career, being given opportunities I never imagined I’d be able to explore and grow on.”

This is Ben (Woody). Previously an Audio Engineer, Woody has been a Unit Manager with EMG for the past nine years and works specifically on our DP World Tour delivery.

“Working on the Golf, my highlight this year has to be being heavily involved in the planning of the Ryder Cup. A huge event and a lot of pressure to get right but as always surrounded by a great conscientious team.”

As we’re on the countdown to Christmas and we say farewell to another great year, it’s time to shine the spotlight on some of the real stars of EMG – our dedicated and talented team. We asked them what was their highlight of 2023.

This is Beth. Beth joined EMG four years ago in our Operations department and found a passion for trucks. She is now the Transport Logistics Co-ordinator within our Fleet department helping maintain the fleet and working with our production and logistics team assisting with route plans. She has the ability to recall the majority of the EMG fleet registration numbers, much to the amusement and teasing of colleagues!

“My highlight of 2023 was passing my Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence in June. It was an intensive 3 week course, with two exams. I had a lot going on in the background too. My mum has early onset dementia and got a lot worse during the first week of the course so I was really proud of myself that I managed to focus. The email with the results (as very slow 8 weeks later) was a surprise and a relief!”

This is Lachlan. Lachlan is our Cloud Production Developer and is integral to the team for developing EMG’s simplified broadcast roadmap.

“My highlight of 2023, would be the launch of our Premiership Rugby simplified production on TNT Sports. For the past few years we have proven that we can deliver fully remote high quality coverage, in this new simplified workflow. For TNT Sports to recognise this and choose to put that same coverage out on their platform was a fantastic achievement from everyone involved, and proves that this is a model that broadcasters are going to look to in the near future.”

As we bid farewell to another great year, it’s time to shine the spotlight on some of the real stars of EMG – our dedicated and talented team. We asked them what was their highlight of 2023.

This is Meg. Meg works in our HR department as an HR Assistant and is the friendly face that all new EMG starters meet on their first day, ensuring they have all they need to get started in their new role. She’s also involved in a number of reporting functions and data management.

“This year I’ve enjoyed streamlining some of our HR processes and helping to develop new systems. I’ve also enjoyed participating in new initiatives across a variety of HR fields which have given me the opportunity to develop as a result of that.”

This is Dan. Dan is one of our cable maintenance technicians responsible for servicing and maintaining all our fibre and coaxial cables. He’s also an EMG Group award winner for embodying one of our company values; passion. His passion and enthusiasm for his work shine through in his consistent effort to go above and beyond what is expected of him.

“2023 marked my first year at EMG and working with the rest of the amazing team here has been my highlight of the year.”

Double the excitement for the !

As proud sponsors we had a front row seat to our own celebration at Televisual’s Bulldog Awards, held last night. Together with Sunset+Vine, we won Best Live Sports for our work on the UEFA Women’s Euro Final.

EMG International Sales Director, Eamonn Curtin, was there along with Sunset & Vine’s Sarah Bucknall and Jamie Oakford to pick up the trophy.

This recognition is testament to the hard work, dedication and innovation of our incredible teams. We’re honoured to be recognised among the best in the industry and to be able to support and to celebrate excellence.

This is Kirsty. Kirsty is one our most experienced Production Managers. Her personal touch with crew and clients sets her out as one of the great production managers in the industry.

“My highlight of 2023 was The Boat Race which is a ‘beast’ of an OB. Such a fantastic crew to work with and everyone giving 100% to make sure it all happened. From my perspective all the background work with 3 different councils, numerous boat clubs, over 100 crew and all the other third party contributors takes weeks to arrange, but is very satisfying when the end result comes together.”

‘Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream’ on Sunday. As we delivered facilities for the contestants performed at London’s Novello Theatre with the show hosted by Zoe Ball. Then followed ‘An Audience with Kylie’ from the Royal Albert Hall for and Monday night was the start of ‘The Real Full Monty: Jingle Balls’ delivered for which sees Julia Bradbury, Colleen Nolan, Paul Burrell plus others reveal all in order to raise awareness of life saving cancer checks.

It’s been busy few weeks for our brilliant crews delivering facilities for these great shows as well as the Fashion Awards, the Royal Variety Performance, Pride of Britain Awards and Strictly Come Dancing at Blackpool.

Rohan Mitchell, EMG’s ESG Director will join industry leaders to discuss sustainability in live sports production.

The panel will focus on the role of outside broadcast companies and remote production, exploring sustainable practices and tackling the challenges of eco-friendlier operations. Discussions will also cover technology's role, including cloud services, in minimising live production's environmental impact.

The EMG golf fleet lined up for departure from the Andalucía Masters which took place at the end of October. Next stop was Mallorca, covering the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final and then on to Dubai for the DP World Tour Championship which starts tomorrow.

The climax of the season-long rankings race, the Championship in Dubai features three of the world’s top four players and ten members of the 2023 European Ryder Cup winning team, showcasing 'The Greatest Players on Earth.'

Our crews cover over 35 golf events for DP World Tour this year, across 18 countries, following this great race to Dubai.

Last year we were there to see Women’s Open Champion, Ashleigh Buhai, win her first major victory after a thrilling four-hole play off and this week we’ll be in London to see who will be crowned champion of the 2023 AIG Women’s Open! ⛳️🏌️‍♀️

We take immense pride in providing coverage of women’s sports and this event gives us the perfect opportunity to witness the extraordinary talent of these sports professionals on the prestigious Walton Heath course. We’re looking forward to covering all the action as it unfolds and celebrating these women defying gender stereotypes and being such inspiring role models.

A great test to end the Ashes and a fitting farewell to England’s Stuart Broad, the ‘Ultimate Ashes Warrior’ whose extraordinary career we were lucky to witness. Over 80 EMG crew were onsite providing coverage for Sky Sports, BBC Sport and Channel 9 in this thrilling final test. 🏏

The first day of the Rise Up Academy at the Global Academy in Hayes, West London delivering broadcast engineering and technical workshops to the next generation of media talent.

EMG Junior Audio Guarantee, Elliot Sinclair, is on site as well as our ESG Director, Rohan Mitchell pictured with fellow volunteer Felicity Webster; just two of the 150 volunteers across our industry at this year's Summer School helping to inspire and educate 500 secondary school children on the career opportunities and pathways available.

The UEFA Champions League trophy stands 73.5 cm tall and weighs 7.5kg. ‘It may not be an artistic masterpiece but everybody in football is keen to get their hands on it’ said creator Jurg Stadelman.

We’re at the Ataturk Olympic stadium in Istanbul with NOVA 118, NOVA 123, NOVA 125 and our colleagues EMG Belgium for BT Sport and IMG to find out whether it will be Manchester City or Inter.

Along with the Gallagher Premiership Final at Twickenham, the last weekend of the Premier League season, coverage of the boxing in Manchester and Belfast and the start of Roland Garros, the weekend also saw us coming together as one EMG for Whisper's coverage of the Ride London Classique, part of the UCI Women's World Tour.

Working with our colleagues EMG Belgium, EMG Connectivity and Aerial Camera Systems (ACS) we were there to cover the race from the air and from the ground. Celebrating its 10 year anniversary, Day 3 of the event finished in London followed by 25,000 amateur cyclists riding on traffic-free roads through Essex and central London.
