I Blame Self-Quarentine.
Gaming is a major stress-reliever for me when I'm not saving lives.
It started when I was about 5 years old - my dad had a Sega and Nintendo 64 in the home. Whenever I am home, I frequently turn to my PS4 to unwind from the busyness of nursing. I find myself enjoying playing FPS like COD, as well as story games like The Last of Us.
What prompted me to grow my love for gaming a little more with this page was laughably the COVID-19 pandemic. As a hospice nurse on the frontlines receiving those who are terminally ill from COVID-19, I know the safest place for me to be when I’m not working is at home -physically away from other people so that I can continue to protect my community from an illusive disease - ‘er from myself in case I have it. (lol)
Gaming has been my happy place, and a way for me to keep from feeling afraid of what could possibly happen to myself as a nurse or my coworkers as this pandemic goes on. Most importantly, it’s a way for me to still be in touch with my friends and family until this nightmare is over.
