A Call for Constructive Criticism and Accountability.

By Aliyu Etsu Abdulmalik Lafiagi.

As Nigeria continues to navigate its democratic journey, it's essential that we foster a culture of constructive criticism and accountability. The recent criticisms leveled against the APC government by members of the PDP have sparked a heated debate about the role of the opposition in a democratic society.

While it's understandable that the PDP would want to hold the current government accountable for its actions, it's equally important that they acknowledge their own party's 16-year record in power. The PDP's time in office was marked by significant challenges, and it's essential that they take responsibility for their actions and acknowledge the lessons they've learned.

Rather than simply opposing the current government's policies, the PDP should focus on offering alternative solutions that can help move the country forward. This requires a willingness to engage in constructive dialogue and to work collaboratively with other stakeholders to find common ground.

By promoting a culture of constructive criticism and accountability, we can build a more robust and resilient democracy that serves the needs of all Nigerians. It's time for the PDP to take a more constructive approach to opposition, one that prioritizes the needs of the nation over partisan politics.

Let's work together to build a brighter future for Nigeria.

Benue Governor Swears In New Local Government Leadership

Benue Governor officially swears in newly elected local government chairmen, setting the stage for enhanced local governance. Learn more about the new appointees.

Hyacinth Alia, the Governor of Benue State, has officially inaugurated the 23 newly elected Local Government Chairmen, marking a major milestone in local governance.

This event occurred soon after similar ceremonies in various states, including one led by Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara.

At the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Alia stressed the significance of accountability and transparency in government.

He encouraged the new chairmen to diligently carry out their responsibilities, ensuring that their actions positively impact the communities they serve.

It's important to highlight that the All Progressives Congress (APC) achieved a complete victory in the recent elections, winning all 23 chairmanship positions and securing 276 councillorship seats throughout the state.

Governor Alia reminded the elected officials of their dedication to serving the people and encouraged them to cooperate with both state and federal governments in order to promote good governance and enhance the quality of life for their constituents.

The governor stated, "This event signifies a major milestone in the life and future of local government administration in Benue, particularly for those at the grassroots who showed up overwhelmingly on Saturday to elect you."

"Remember, leadership is about serving others and making sacrifices, not seeking personal glory," he stated.

Dennis Guda of Vandiekya LGA, who represented the newly elected chairmen, also addressed the audience and promised to provide quality service and effective governance.

Guda also vowed to stay committed to the APC, adhere to the party's constitution, and work together with the state government for success.👉 Follow Plain Fact News for more updates.

Morocco 2025: Eguavoen to lead Eagles, as German tax laws botch NFF, Labbadia deal

Stringent regulations of German tax authorities have conspired to abort the agreement between the Nigeria Football Federation and Coach Bruno Labbadia for the latter to mount the saddle as Head Coach of Nigeria’s Senior Men Team, Super Eagles.

“We have been on the tax issue for the past three days, and I told him clearly that there was no way the NFF will agree to offset the concomitant tax percentage on his salary that will be demanded by German tax authorities. It is not possible for us to shoulder the responsibility of shelling out another money, between 32% to 40% of his salary, after paying the agreed monthly wage.

“The NFF and Mr. Labbadia reached an agreement in principle before we made the announcement that he would become the Head Coach of the Super Eagles. The tax details were never part of our discussions, and he had personally agreed to all terms before the tax issue came up. We were doing our best to be flexible in the discussions but he was adamant that the NFF had to pay the full tax amount as well. We simply cannot do that,” President of NFF, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, said on Friday evening.

In the event, Technical Director of Nigeria Football Federation, Coach Augustine Eguavoen will now take charge of the Super Eagles for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Benin Republic (Uyo, 7th September) and Rwanda (Kigali, 10th September).

It will be Eguavoen’s fourth stint in charge of the three-time African champions, after earlier experience in 2005-2007, 2010 and 2022.

Don't blame blindly.

Episode 1.

On this sunny saturday afternoon I was on my way to a wedding reception, sitting worriedly on my motorcycle which was as a result of no enough fuel to convey me to the reception venue and a faulty back tire, the front tire wasn't also gauged enough, so the motorcycle was flopping and the movement wasn't balanced. So I had to branch at a vulcanizer's shop for proper gauging.

On an attempt to cross while all my attention was with other motorcycles, cars and pedestrians, suddenly, I heard a voice from my left hand side calling my name which was that of a friend and the next thing I will hear from him was please are you going to the reception venue? I said yes, he said can I come with you? I told him my bike heard a faulty back tire, so as a result of this it can't carry the two of us.

Then he said okay, I should proceed and he went for another alternative mobility.

So I proceeded to where to gauge my tire, I had only N580 with me, I gauged and begged the vulcanizer to please collect N80 from me and he accepted, I wanted to buy recharge card, so I proceeded to recharge card shop.

On getting there I saw a brother who is also a vulcanizer beside the recharge card shop, after buying the recharge card I went to him and asked him if he has a spare motorcycle back tire for sell and he told me he had, I bought it from him at the rate of N3,000 on credit which up till now I have not paid.

He asked his apprenticeships to fix it for me and they did.

I bought fuel at the rate of N400 and proceeded to the reception ground.

On getting there my friend who wanted to come with me initially and I told him my bike didn't have a good back tire came straight to my bike and checked the tire to confirm if what I told him was true or just wanted to avoid taking him.

He came and checked, so he discovered that the tire in the bike wasn't faulty as I claimed, and he started blowing blames on me that I didn't want him to come with me.

Please, should I be blamed?.
