The perfect stack for why you’ve made zero progress in 2024.

The irony is the answer to the problem looks largely the same, but there’s some fine details that separate them:

* lift weights - Consistently get in the gym 2-5x per week BUT actually measure your progress. Take sets to failure. Push to improve in reps or sets EVERY session.
* whole foods, high protein - easy button is 1g of protein per pound of bodyweight. Lower end of the spectrum while still being efficacious is 1.5-2.2g per KG bodyweight. There’s many ranges to go off of in literature which is why I stick with 1g per pound of BW
* Cardio - a blend of steady state (zone 2) and high intensity (METCONs, intervals, or sprints). Even the CDC recommends 150 minutes of moderate-vigorous activity per week. This could be 4x30 minute runs and 1x30-60 minute high intensity session (total time).
* Drink water - Easy minimum requirement is at least your body weight in KG in oz per day. For a 185 pound man, thats 84oz or 2.48L. For every 30-60 minutes of exercise add 16-32oz to total consumption. For most active men in the military, I recommend hitting at least 2-3L + 16oz for every hour of training.
* Minimum Sleep 7-8 hours - total time in bed 8-9 hours, no blue light 30 min prior, preferably reading, s*x, tea, writing

While each item looks similar to the post, the finer details create a DRASTIC difference in terms of quality, consistency, and intensity. Compare someone who is like the post (MANY men today, even in their 20s), to someone doing the above. Every day their compounding a massive benefit to where they are undeniably improved.

Nietzsche Monday (tuesday, welcome back from the long weekend).

The history of each our days is the sum of innumerable little [cowardices] or [acts of courage] that fill our lives.

Is everything we do today a result of laziness or inventive reason?

Although most things I do at this point are out of habit, they differ significant day to day. I try to think about the actual result of my actions.

The easiest example is to look at a workout - what does each movement ACTUALLY do to benefit me?

Rather than go through the motions. It could be just A workout, going throught the motions, just a bit of sweat. OR it could be focused on actually improving a particular aspect of my fitness.

The tuesday challenge - just think a bit about your actions - before actually doing them.

F*ck writers block

“I’ve been busy and haven’t been posting” is a rationalization I’ve been telling myself. Busy is a fake word to rationalize a lack of priority.

In the last 3 days I managed to: do an Army BDay run led by the Chief of Staff of the Army, hit a Friday full body lift, spend the entire night with a girl, wake up at 4am to hike 10 miles, spend the day at a rural Virginia brewery, watch The Town, wake up Sunday and play soccer, change a tire and bike for an hour, and throughout all that bang my head against the wall on solving code issues for the AG Studio app.

I think life is awesome and weekends like these BLOW by. Funny how exercise is so engrained it just happens. My days are constructed around the movement itself. There’s no real lesson here I’m just ranting. Happy Monday.

Just kidding. I’ve been sober for 114 days. I spent the day hanging with the scif rats then spent 2 hours in the woods, so I’m a bit delayed.
