Comparison is the thief of joy.

These are all thoughts that have gone through my mind at some point—and sometimes, they still do. But the truth is, every mother and every baby is different. It may seem like others have it all figured out, especially on social media, but I guarantee they are struggling in some way too.

It’s easy to look around and wonder why her baby sleeps better, why her body “bounced back” faster, or why she seems to have it all together while I feel like I’m barely keeping up. But when I shift my focus from comparison to gratitude, everything changes.

Thank you, Lord, for my journey—for the long nights that taught me patience, the changes that remind me of the life I carried, and the challenges that are shaping me into the wife and mother You created me to be.

If you’ve ever found yourself caught in the comparison trap, I hope this reminds you that your journey is beautiful, even in the hard moments. You are exactly where you’re meant to be and you are amazing. 🤍

I found this image on Pinterest and I thought it was so beautiful—“Majesty of Motherhood,” by Ariel Edwards.

Motherhood is a mix of tender moments, personal growth, and a love so deep it’s hard to put into words. Some days are filled with joy and ease, while others stretch you in ways you never expected.

But through it all, you are strong. You are capable. You are worthy.

It’s not about perfection—it’s about showing up, loving deeply, and finding joy in the little moments that make it all worth it.

Here are 5 affirmations I’ve been reminding myself of lately, especially on the hard days. Save these words for when you need to hear them most and let them be the gentle encouragement you deserve. 💖

Which one speaks to you today? Drop it in the comments—I’d love to know.

Today was one of those days. Running on fumes, barely surviving, and questioning if I’m doing enough. Ava and I have been working on a sleep schedule, and it’s been going well for the past week and a half—but last night? I’m pretty sure I got maybe 2 hours of sleep.

If you’ve been here too, this is your reminder: you don’t have to do it all. 💕 Some days, the biggest win is simply showing up. Your love, your presence, and your effort—even when it feels messy—is more than enough for your baby.

Let’s take a moment to let go of the pressure for perfection, mama. Surviving those tough days? That’s a version of thriving, too.

Reminding myself that these days won’t last forever—and one day, I know I’ll wish I had them back. Save this for the hard days, because you’ve got this. 🤍

I honestly don’t know what I’d do without my best friend, . Getting to do motherhood side by side with you—just like we always prayed for—has been such a gift.

Thank you for being the most amazing godmother to Ava and my forever adopted sister. ❤️ I’m so grateful for your love, support, and for always being there, no matter what season of life we’re in.

Motherhood is better with you by my side.

Did you know that giving your child Tylenol for every little thing, especially a low-grade fever, could do more harm than good?

Tylenol (acetaminophen) isn’t just tough on the liver—it also depletes glutathione, one of the body’s most important antioxidants. Without enough glutathione, your child’s ability to fight illness and detoxify may be weakened, potentially making their recovery slower.

Many children’s Tylenol products contain red dye, artificial flavors, and other unnecessary additives. Not exactly what you want to give your little one when they’re already feeling unwell.

Instead of reaching for Tylenol immediately:
👉 Monitor the fever (low-grade fevers are often a healthy immune response).
👉 Keep your child hydrated, nourished, and rested.
👉 Consider a cleaner alternative like Genexa if medication is necessary in an emergency.

✨ Being informed helps us make the best choices for our little ones. Trust their amazing bodies, and support them naturally when possible. You know your child best, and if you are unsure, ask your pediatrician.

This post is for informational purposes only and not medical advice. Always consult your child’s physician for guidance. Any temperature of 100.4°F/38°C or higher) in a newborn requires immediate evaluation by a doctor.

Taking care of myself as a busy mama means using health tools that actually work. My Therasage red light sauna has been such a gift for my health and wellness routine! From detoxing and muscle recovery to better skin and reduced stress.

This has been my go-to for winding down after workouts, getting in “me time,” and even boosting my energy and mental clarity. I try to get my sauna time in daily, but recently it’s been about 3-4 times a week.

Who else is obsessed with red light therapy? Let me know if you’ve tried it or want to try in the comments.

Being a mom comes with its fair share of sleepless nights—especially with an 8-month-old who wakes multiple times a night and doesn’t always nap. 😴 I’ve learned the hard way that making time for myself is essential to staying balanced and refreshed, even on the longest days.

Throughout the day, Ava and I get outside together for walks and a little sunshine (weather permitting), which is a non-negotiable for both of us. If she naps, that’s my time to recharge—catching up on reading, working on my online business, listening to a podcast, journaling, or even just sitting in silence for a few moments. I also try to tackle housework like laundry and dishes while she’s with me. Now that she’s getting better at playing by herself and following me around, juggling it all feels a little easier.

Lately, once I put her to bed, I’ve been heading to the gym, which has become my space to unwind and release tension. Afterward, I relax in the red light sauna to help my body and mind fully reset and detox. Then quality time with Brendan—we unwind, reconnect, and enjoy each other’s company. Some nights, I end up going straight to bed while Brendan stays up to cover any wake-ups so I can get a stretch of sleep. I’ve been trying to get back into the habit of reading a chapter in my Bible with the red light on; it’s such a peaceful way to settle into bed.

Balancing motherhood and self-care is no small task, but I’ve learned how important it is to make time for the things that fill my cup—whether that’s moving my body, spending time with loved ones, or working on my passions. 🤍

What’s your favorite way to reset as a mama? Let me know in the comments! 👇

✨ 3 Ways I Sneak in Protein Throughout My Day! ✨

As a busy mom, I know how important it is to fuel my body with nutritious ingredients that support my energy, mood, and overall health. Protein is key—but getting enough can be tricky! Here’s how I make it happen (most days):

🥣 Bone Broth – I love sipping on Just Ingredients bone broth (just discovered how amazing it tastes to drink!) or using it to cook pasta and rice. Brendan always says he’ll never go back to pasta cooked in plain water! It’s packed with protein and loaded with collagen for joint, gut, and skin health.

💪 Collagen Powder – A scoop of Perfect Supplements collagen powder goes into my coffee every morning. It’s tasteless, dissolves easily, and adds an extra protein boost that feels effortless!

🍓 Protein Powder – Just Ingredients protein powder is a staple in our house! I add it to smoothies, waffle mix, and even oatmeal protein bark. It’s clean, tastes amazing, and keeps me full and energized when I’m short on time for lunch.

Protein is essential for everything from recovery to energy production. How do you sneak in your protein? Let me know in the comments!

These are three little things we stopped buying and started making at home. There are a few more I’ll share in another post, but these are so simple to make—and the best part? Knowing the ingredients are clean!

What have you started making at home instead of buying from the store? Or, what would you like to start making? Drop it in the comments below! ⬇️

Some real talk this afternoon ⬇️🗣️

I started the day feeling sorry for myself—I barely slept, Ava was cranky, and wouldn’t nap. I was cranky and overtired. So, I decided we’d walk to the chocolate shop in town. Just as we stepped out, it started raining. ☔️ When we got there, they were out of my favorite latte flavor and only had two types of chocolates left. I couldn’t help but think, “I just can’t win today!”

But as I sat there sipping a different (yet still delicious) coffee and snacking on a different (yet still tasty) chocolate, watching my baby smile and enjoy herself on our little date, I realized… I am winning. I get to be home with her every day, take our walks, go on spontaneous little trips, go visit friends, and savor these little moments. I also talked to my sister, which always seems to help as well.

The sun eventually came out, and we ended up walking 2.5 miles before the rain started again. I felt so much better. Fresh air really does wonders for the soul, and sometimes it’s all about shifting perspective. The little things are really the big things. No matter how bad the day may seem, there’s always some good in it and something(s) to be thankful for. 🤍

I thought I would re-introduce myself, since so much has changed for me in the last year & there are some new faces here! 👋🏼

This time last year I was still working a travel nurse position & after a miscarriage & realizing I was completely burnt out, I decided it was time to take a step away.

Over the last 2 years I’ve learned so much about true health & wellness, which was something that also made me realize nursing no longer aligned with me or my lifestyle.

My life has changed so much over the last year. Finding out I was pregnant, my husband & I starting our own businesses, getting engaged (he even had the ring before we found out about Ava 😂), & getting married all within 6 months! Then having our baby girl this year. Truly so many blessings 🙏🏼

I am currently trying to find my groove as a new mama & while it has it’s challenges, it is truly such a beautiful journey and I love it! It amazes me how much I have changed in just the last few months. I also enjoy making anything sourdough, my sauna & other wellness tools, learning anything holistic health related, slow mornings, being present with my baby girl, Sunday family time, daily movement, sunshine, the outdoors in general, but especially the mountains & the water!

I hope you enjoy following along with me on this journey 🫶🏼

It’s been a while…

These first 2 weeks with Ava have been probably the most amazing and stressful of my entire life. I never imagined having such a difficult time in the newborn stage. I always thought that would be my favorite and that labor would be the worst part. I would take my 22 hour labor any day over the last 2 weeks.

She latched right away when she was born. That first night was so amazing, I was on such a high, and even the next day. Then I noticed she had jaundice and she was also screaming so often and my milk hadn’t come in, so we started supplementing with some donor milk (from an amazing friend who I’m not sure I could have gotten through this without her reassurance and breastmilk 😉) and after having a bottle, Ava refused to latch. I was devastated. I tried every day with her, and she would just fight me. My midwife and lactation consultant both told me I was doing everything right, but that this little girl was extremely stubborn. So I pumped every 2 hours and feed her every 2-3 hours overnight, sobbing the entire time, after she would continually refuse to go to the breast. I tried using a supplemental nursing system, cup feeding, and then a ni**le shield.

I was an emotional wreck, and truly thought I was going to have PPD. I don’t think I have ever cried as much in my life as Ava’s first week and a half of life. I think being a nurse has made it so much harder as well. I feel like I can’t just see things as a mom and see every little thing as a possible bad thing! Being sleep deprived also doesn’t help.

But after working with her for 2 days with the nursing shield, she FINALLY latched again! I had to use the shield for maybe 2-3 days and then she went completely back to breast! After 10 LONG days and nights of not giving up!!

I am so thankful to those who showed up for us in so many ways, without asking to meet Ava right away and accepting the space we needed. I am also so thankful to my mom for coming and staying with us this week to help, I truly don’t know what I’d do without her! I finally feel like things are starting to get better every day🙏🏼

Someone finally decided she was ready to grace us with her presence!!👶🏻

🎀 Ava Marie Walker born March 14, 2024 @ 6:20 pm. 8 lbs, 15 oz, (👀)21 inches long.

After 22 hours of labor, a natural (non medicated) home birth, our little girl finally came and she and mom are doing great! And dad is too after some sleep 😉

We will probably not be on our phones much these next few days and just enjoying and getting used to being a family of 3. We are so happy our baby girl is finally here and never knew we could be so in love! 🩷
