Analysis: The 2020 senatorial race is very difficult to forecast.

Several vulnerable GOP incumbents are up for reelection including Martha McSally of AZ, Joni Ernst of IA, Susan Collins of ME, Thom Tillis of NC, Cory Gardner of CO, and David Perdue of GA. There are a couple vulnerable Democrats up for re-election including Doug Jones of AL and Gary Peters of MI.

I am predicting Joni Ernst to win IA in a reliably red state.

I am predicting Thom Tillis to defeat Cal Cunningham in NC due to Cunningham’s recent s*x scandal and polls tightening over the last month.

I’m predicting a loss for Susan Collins of ME vs. Sarah Gideon based off of her lack of support from the GOP party.

I am predicting Martha McSally to lose the special election race in AZ vs Mark Kelly. Liberal Californians have moved to AZ in droves which changes the state dynamic which has been reliably red.

I’m predicting a loss for Cory Gardner vs. former Governor John Hickenlooper in CO. Colorado is a reliably blue state so Senator Gardner was facing an uphill climb to begin with.

I am predicting a win for GOP incumbent David Perdue vs. his challenger Jon Ossoff. Georgia is a reliably red state, and I think stays that way at least this election cycle.

In Montana, I predict a win for Steve Daines against Democratic challenger Steve Bullock.

In Michigan, I predict that Democratic incumbent Gary Peters will defeat John James. Michigan is a reliably blue state, and I think that bodes well for Senator Peters.

I’m also predicting Tommy Tuberville to defeat Democratic incumbent Doug Jones . Alabama is reliably red.

In Georgia, there are two Senatorial elections. In Georgia 2, I predict a win for Democrat Raphael Warnock in a 4 way battle for Senate. I believe Republicans will split their votes between Kelly Loeffler and Doug Collins.

Looking at polls as well as state-wide analysis I believe the Senatorial balance will most likely range from 51R-49D—53D-47R. Maps are courtesy of

Electoral college prediction analysis:
As much as I would love to see a Trump victory, several obstacles stand in his way. A new dynamic has arisen since the 2016 election, and that is suburban voters moving from liberal states to the south or southwest. (i.e. Arizona, Georgia, Texas, and North Carolina) This heavily favors Democrats. The other dynamic is the coronavirus pandemic where the majority of constituents are more concerned right now about their physical health than their financial health. Lastly, mail in ballots dramatically favor Democrats, and most registered voters have received a ballot this year. ( I also figured out that average polling favors Democrats by 3-5 points so I accounted for that.) If President Trump gets re-elected, it will be because he won the south and one of the Rust Belt states. Winning AZ, FL, GA, NC, OH, PA, and Texas is his most plausible way to victory.
