It was in 2013 that a group of 250 Pakistani Hindu families came to India with a dream of getting Indian citizenship. They were hoping for a better life in India. But instead, the Government dumped them at Majlis Park Metro Station with no facilities. Basic facilities like water and electricity never reached their threshold. Houses of mud, no proper schooling, jobs or social equality have made a life of the refugees uniformly hard. There are mosquitos breeding everywhere. A Delhi Jal Board tanker comes once in a couple of days to supply water. The area is surrounded by trash dumped by MCD vehicles.
Many of the refugees make their living working as daily wage laborers. Their livelihood is disturbed since lockdown.
We visited this refugee camp when we heard it has 450 children. As we entered the compound children of all ages came running towards us from all directions. Not a single child was wearing slippers or masks. Took us an hour to make them wear both. And when they formed a line it was endless. A line of laughter, smiles, talking, shouting, occasional "Jai Sri Ram" and also a line of filth, dirt, shabby clothes, dirty malnutritioned lice filled untidy hair, feet as dirty as dust itself and skin full of prickly heat rashes. Though it seems an impossible task to do we at Givers For A Cause are ready to take up the task of making these children aware of the importance of personal hygiene. All we need is hygiene-related stuff for 450 children.
Send us Clocip Antifungal Antibacterial powders, shampoos, soaps, coconut oils, nail cutters, lice combs, and footwear.
Support these children.
They have come to our country seeking refuge.
