This 1948 classic, American Sporting Dogs was edited and designed by Eugene V. Connett, and is a 500 plus page book on American sporting dogs which includes the pointing, retrieving, flushing and hound breeds.

28 chapters authored by outstanding breed authorities of their time. They were asked "to write what he would liked to have read in his early days as the owner, trainer, or handler of a sporting dog."

We’ve probably mentioned books by one our favorite authors, Gene Hill more than once. A Gun Dog Library is not complete until it contains a complete set of his books. Gun dogs are mentioned often throughout them all, but no none more than his classic Tears & Laughter - A Couple Of Dozen Dog Stories.

If you're a fan of Gordon MacQuarrie, then you need to obtain a copy of these selected columns from the Milwaukee Journal from 1936-1956. According to Everson, "You'll find pretty much everything he wrote about his dogs, and a bit of his guns here."
