IT’S SHOWTIME // Tonight, hits the stage with a special program that highlights the range and creativity George Balanchine brought to his work. An exploration of how he used the music of Vivaldi, Corelli, Prokofiev, and Stravinsky to inspire and influence his choreography, this meeting of music and dance is as thought-provoking now as it was when Balanchine created these now-classic ballets. Don’t miss this intriguing blend of American folk dance (Square Dance), dramatic parable (Prodigal Son), and ballet blockbuster (Stravinsky Violin Concerto) now through November 10th.

IT’S SHOWTIME // has joined forces with the incredible and Maestro Eric Garcia to produce a unique performance of music and dance on stage together.

The Phil will open the show with a tribute to classical ballet’s most iconic composer, Tchaikovsky, with “The Sleeping Beauty Suite,” while in the second act, the music will take physical form with two contrasting choreographic and musical compositions.

The first, Terence Marling’s Twice (Once) set to Anna Clyne’s Within Her Arms, is a subtle yet stirring piece that contemplates the afterlife. The second, Justin Peck’s acclaimed Pulcinella Variations, is set to Stravinsky’s jubilant and complex score. The piece showcases Peck’s signature blend of dynamic range and technical innovation, brilliantly brought to life by Ballet Idaho’s own dancers. This is a night of virtuosity and artistry you won’t want to miss!

IT’S SHOWTIME // Experience a dazzling and dynamic program that you won’t forget in ’s Fall Experience program, on stage Oct 24-Nov 3.

A highlight of the entire season, Crystal Pite’s “The Seasons’ Canon” is a powerhouse ballet featuring 54 dancers on stage. Set to Max Richter’s recomposition of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, her choreography draws on human emotion from her own life experiences.

Principal Dancer Lia Cirio has been an artist with the Company for 20 years, and this world premiere of “After” marks her second choreographic work for the Boston Ballet main stage. Her ballet will feature neo-classical pointe work. Cirio’s ballets showcase a brilliant pairing of her own personal style and technique with her ability to highlight the unique talent of her fellow dancers.

Set to Bach’s beloved Goldberg Variations, Sabrina Matthews’ “Ein von Viel” is an intimate dance between two artists and a solo pianist. Originally choreographed for two male dancers, Matthews has transformed the choreography to subvert traditional gender roles—the duet will be performed by two males or two females, depending on the performance.

Jorma Elo’s “Plan to B” is one of the most dynamic and thrilling ballets ever created. Six dancers captivate in a flurry of solos, duets, and trios that move with passion and velocity to the vivacious music of Henrich Ignaz Von Biber. The ballet reflects on the inevitable unpredictability of life and the hesitation and nervous energy we experience when we take leaps into the unknown.

IT’S SHOWTIME // Ballet Austin's BELLE /A Tale of Beauty & the Beast is a contemporary ballet that reexamines the timeless story of Beauty & the Beast in a non-traditional way. Artistic Director Stephen Mills, Composer Graham Reynolds, and Production Designer Michael B. Raiford have created a provocative and sensual retelling of this famous romance with sets and costumes that project fantastical, Alexander McQueen-type elements against a gritty, minimalistic backdrop.

The look and feel of the production, while quite contemporary, was heavily influenced by the 1946 film noir, La Belle et la Bête, by French filmmaker Jean Cocteau, and many stylistic elements, including the lighting design, are reflective of that ground-breaking movie. Graham Reynolds’ haunting music blends classical instruments with industrial sounds to create a remarkable score that is both unsettling and soothing—commanding and hopelessly romantic...
