NEWS UPDATE: Naghatid ng pakikiramay ang Department of National Defense (DND) sa pamilya ni Corporal Jerry R. Palacio (INF) PA, na pumanaw noong Jan. 9 habang nagsasagawa ng emergency response operations sa San Isidro, Northern Samar.

Ang nasabing lugar ay nalubog sa baha dahil sa walang tigil na pag-ulan nitong mga nakaraang araw.

"Corporal Palacio was a patriot who was always ready to serve, especially in times of emergency," ayon sa DND.

BASAHIN: Presidential candidates na sina Sen. Panfilo Lacson, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, Sen. Manny Pacquiao, at Vice President Leni Robredo, hindi dadalo sa debate na pangungunahan ng Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI), isang network na pagmamay-ari ni Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder na si Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.

Ayon sa tagapagsalita ni Robredo, bagama’t dumadalo ito sa mga debate at interviews sa kabila ng “personal histories or affiliations” ng nag-oorganisa ng mga ito, ay mayroong nakatakdang pagpupulong sa mga lider at taga-suporta sa Panay Island si Robredo na natapat sa schedule ng debate.

Samantala, ipinaliwanag ni Pacquiao na maliban sa may nakabinbing cyber-libel case laban kay Quiboloy ay hindi rin aniya kaya ng kanyang konsensiya na lumahok sa isang aktibidad na inorganisa ng isang taong “wanted for detestable crimes.”

Ayon naman kay Lacson, mismong si Pastor Quiboloy na ang nag-endorso ng kanyang nais na kandidato para sa pagka-presidente at bise presidente. Nagpahayag na rin ang running mate ni Lacson na si vice presidential candidate Sen. Tito Sotto na hindi ito dadalo sa debate.

Kinumpirma naman nina presidential candidates Leody de Guzman at Bongbong Marcos ang kanilang pagdalo sa naturang debate na gaganapin bukas (Peb. 15) sa ganap na 6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. | via PTV News

Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo topped ad spending on Facebook among all candidates, although the popular social media platform have accounted for small percentages of election aspirants’ spending to date.

In comparison, Bongbong Marcos has not recorded any ad spending on Facebook so far.

But this is not surprising because Marcos prefers meme wars over ads, said Jonathan Ong, an associate professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst who has studied disinformation networks in the region.
