It's THIS IS AWFUL THURSDAY, and this week Trevor and I talk about a missing person local to us, Justin Hooiman.

On November 20th, 2017, Justin called before work to schedule lunch with his "mama bear", Marilyn. 10 minutes later, his phone was off, and his worksite said he never showed up. Justin has been missing since that morning 4 years ago.

Justin was 27 at the time of his disappearance, and would be 31 today. He is 6'1", has dark hair and dark eyes, a goatee and mustache, and he has three tattoos- on his left shoulder, a rose and cross, on the right arm the phrase "remember who you are", and the initials DH.

He was last seen near the Fortitude treatment center in Salt Lake City, Utah, on his way to a job site in Murray. His case is currently open and suspected a homicide.

Every inch of progress in Justin's case was hard fought for by his family. Marilyn told me that she'll keep looking for her son with her last breath if that is what it takes. But their family needs help to bring attention to Justin's case, because she should not have to wait for answers anymore. Please take the time to share his info today so they won't have to fight this battle forever!

OH HELLO THERE! It's This Is Awful Thursday, and we missed you!! Today's episode is about the unsolved case of Olivia Lone Bear, a 33 year old woman who was last seen alive on the way home from the Sportsmens Bar in New Town, ND.
Olivia is one of too many Indigenous women, girls, and Two Spirits who end up . Olivia Lone Bear's family deserves to see justice, but too many never even get acknowledged outside of local media.
Until all of us are doing something about it, that won't change. So talk about Olivia Lone Bear, share her case information, and support Native-lead organizations that work to protect sovereignty, healing, and justice for Olivia and every missing or murdered Indigenous person.

So it sounds like Niki Bakoles (aka "Saltaire Sally") is going to be discussed a lot in the new episode of Ghost Adventures, at the Saltaire.

I wanted to post this now so anyone looking up info on this case will see it. Nikole Bakoles was a young mother with a free spirit and an artistic eye.

Her remains were found by duck hunters on October 8th, 2000, adjacent to Saltaire. Her remains were unidentified for 12 years, during which time she was given the moniker "Saltaire Sally".

She was from the Washington area, where her family still resides. Her family had little contact with her after she moved to Salt Lake City in 1998 with her boyfriend, Joel Chaudeoin, but had visited each other since her baby was born. Calls had become less frequent as she experienced housing insecurity. The contact stopped altogether in 2000. They reported her missing in 2003.

Nikole was last seen March 15, 2000. Mr. Chaudoin stated they had an argument and that he left. He claims that was the last time he ever saw her. Acquaintances of Nikole and Joel are encouraged to contact UPD detectives to aid in the investigation into Nikole’s death.

She has the following tattoos: a baby Tasmanian devil on the back of her left shoulder, a green and blue gecko lizard around her navel, a Japanese symbol on her right ankle and a primitive Japanese sun tattooed on her lower back. Bradley is a cigarette smoker.

It's This Is Awful Thursday, which means a fresh new ep is up! Today we talk about the case that's all over the news- Kristin Smart, killed at 19, who went 25 years without justice. Her killer was arrested this last week, as well as his father who has kept Kristin's remains from her family for that time.

Trisha Beristain was also 19 when she was murdered by Arturo Munguia (aka Jessi Vega).

For 22 and a half years, her family has seen no justice. We want it for them. Share the crap out of this, friends. ESPECIALLY if you have connections to the CHICAGO, SEATTLE, EL PASO, or PHEONIX areas! This guy is out there. Let's find him.

In the late 1970s, a field near the Salt Lake Airport was used as a dumping ground- potentially by one offender. We're all about solving cold cases, and the people found in that field deserve more than a found body report. Share, true crime buffs!
