Mila is my Beeeeeutiful niece. She is the reason I wanted to make grad videos for students who wouldn’t get to experience their special day like they thought they would.
So when we went to Regina this month, I was honored she wanted me to do one for her. And she wanted to include her group of friends and that was so special.
Mila, I am so grateful you are my niece. We are all so proud of you and look forward to being there for you through the years.

A few days ago I put a question out on Facebook asking my friends if they have kids older than 11, what is something you miss about your kids being younger and wish you could relive.
The responses from this question are what inspired me to capture the following film on Easter Sunday. Thanks for reminding me that this time goes way too fast and to capture the moments while we can, including their laughs, their dancing, their love for their devices and James’ with his crossed leg and blanket 🤣❤️.
Our family moved to the Diamond Valley area (Turner Valley) almost 5 years ago and we love this area and the communities so much. When I saw this idea of Porch Portraits I knew I HAD to do this as well. Thank you to all of the families that reached out to me and allowed me to take their photo and be part of this special project.
The reality of what we are facing is TOUGH and the beginning of this video portrays that reality. But I hope you will watch to the end, because it shows how many of our Diamond Valley families are RESILIENT and here for each other. We will come out stronger on the other side.
Since completing this project, I have been asked by a friend to continue doing this but rather than take these photos for free, to ask for a donation for the Foothills Food Bank. If you are interested, please send me a PM and I’ll come around this weekend (April 4-5).

We were asked to choose a word. My word is “Brave”.
I went to Rise 2020 Toronto not knowing what to expect. I had a vague idea and went in with an open mind and heart. I went solo so that I could spend the time truly being myself and be open to anything that came my way.
I am exhausted but also EXHILARATED from 3 days of community, love, friendship and “unpacking” of my past, my present and my future goals.
I chose the word BRAVE. Because as an introvert I had to be brave to get in that room everyday. And I had to be brave to make new friends.
But my biggest test of Bravery will be something I do this year. I am a professional accountant and have a great corporate job. But my true love is videography and filmmaking. While you were likely watching the speakers on stage, I kept my eyes on the Hollis videography crew and what shots they were getting. I was wondering what frame rate they were using and if they were getting b-roll. Those video montages at the beginning of each day? That’s my passion. Not preparing financial statements and cash flow. When I met Rachel I let her know I could cross one of my goals off in my Start Today Journal. Now I have room for one more so I wrote “be asked to do videography work with the Hollis crew for a future conference”.
I put together the film below so I could always reminisce about the experience of a lifetime ❤️.
To my Rise sisters (and Kyle), thank you all for an amazing 3 days.
The first day I met Emiley she GUSHED about Carly, her fur baby. Then a couple years later she introduced me to Frank. I was sitting in my office and I looked up and this great big lovable face was looking at me! Gunnar is the newest addition and he gets some massive AIR when he jumps.
Our fur babies are not with us for very long so while they are here and part of our family, it’s so important to remember how much joy they bring to our lives. One day it will just be a memory, so why not have it on film so you can go back and reminisce? If you want one of these films for your family, let me know :)

From the moment we got the ultrasound results showing two boys were on the way, I envisioned this day. I wasn’t sure it would happen when Ryder said he didn’t want to play last year. But he changed his mind and the Vaughan Brothers are on the same team playing with the this year! We had a great time in Pincher Creek this weekend and ALL of our hard working kiddos played their hearts out. We are so proud of you all ❤️🏒!

Whenever I dream up a new goal, like starting my own filmmaking business, the pathway to achieve it seems as abstract as one of Jackson Pollock's masterpieces.
But that's the thing....something that may seem confusing to others makes perfect sense to some. How's that for getting deep on a Monday huh?!?

The wonder of the lady bug is what drew me in. She was absolutely mesmerized by it and wanted to show her Momma. All while Daddy and baby sister were looking on. These are the moments I love getting on film. These are the moments that show love.
We went to see the amazing ice sculptures that were created during Snow Days in Lake Louise, Alberta. These sculptures are absolutely incredible artists.
My parents were visiting on their 47th wedding anniversary and I could think of nothing better than capturing their love story in a film....and to get them dancing. They have amazing moves :)
