>>> We discuss - building beloved community, connecting more deeply with God in prayer (and some ways to do this), while also centering prayer for the many who are suffering Palestine, Congo, Sudan, Tigray, and here, within the U.S. as we live through this election season. And in #DisabilityPrideMonth we hear disabled activist #fannielouhamer who said - “Nobody’s free until everybody’s free.”
✨
Some upcoming guests this season include - Lindsey Krinks, co-founder of @opentablenashville (outreach and advocacy for persons experiencing homelessness), Kaitlin Johnstone, co-founder of @kindcotton (tees and merchandise that powers the distribution of inclusive books for kids across the country), Porsche Veu (@ThePoeticActivist - poet, speaker, educator and artist), @christiansforafreepalestine and more!
Our guiding verse of scripture is 1 Corinthians 13:13 - Now these three things remain: faith, hope & love, but the greatest of these is LOVE!
How are you carrying out God’s radical love in your day-to-day lives? Share in the comments! HUGE TY to my hubby Kes @keystoneproductions for editing all our episodes! ♥️

The world lost a LOVE warrior for justice. Rest in Power Rev. James Lawson. Dr. King called “the leading theorist and strategist of nonviolence in the world,” are sitting in my spirit this morning, as we remember the legacy of this love warrior and fighter for collective liberation.
He spent a life time non-violently resisting injustice - refusing to serve in the military as a college student, joining the Fellowship of Reconciliation, a pacifist group, spending time in India which led him to the work of Gandhi; he stood alongside Dr. King, going on to mentor generations of civil rights activists.
✨
“I want to commend the preacher under the leadership of these noble men, James Lawson, one who has been in this struggle for many years,” King said from the pulpit of Mason Temple. “He's been to jail for struggling. He's been kicked out of Vanderbilt University for this struggle, but he's still going on fighting for the rights of his people.”
Legacy not just in words, but practice, embodiement, commitment to standing with the least of these, the forgotten, the misunderstood.
- Live] out the meaning of what it is to see your neighbor as you see yourself... And in small ways and large ways do the work of turning injustice into justice...”
Those words from Rev. James Lawson who

God is calling us to embody authentic resurrection in our actions, our daily lives, for this is where most people will meet Christ, through us.
Do we bring that revolutionary faith or a clinging to tradition? And let’s face it our traditions are often rooted in ignoring suffering and sinking into silence. 👇🏾 Read the full post on our Instagram >>

May we remember -
There is no freedom found in fortifying ourselves against one another: “Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.” 1 John 4:20

God, crack open our hearts until complacency and indifference becomes uncomfortable. May we embody your radical LOVE so deeply that its presence within our spirits disarms hate.
🦋
This, dear friends, is my prayer as we greet 2024 (SWIPE through for the full prayer, a quote from Mother Teresa and scripture). I find it impossible to wish anyone a Happy New Year without a cry for peace, love, justice and an end to the genocides erupting all around us from Palestine to Sudan, Ethiopia, Congo, and Armenia -
along with the many ways COVID is disproportionately impacting our disabled and vulnerable siblings here in the U.S. - please go sit with my soul friend Jen’s informative video @chroniclyconnectedperspective about her own experiences with long COVID.
🦋
May we never adjust our eyes to injustice. Prayer must not be a mere profession of words, but a way God shows up through us in the world. ♥️
What is your prayer 🙏🏾 as we enter 2024?

Releasing makes room to receive. God dropped this sentence into my spirit earlier this year, and I am beginning to understand now - in an even deeper way, WHY.
🪷
Many of us are mourning the state of the world - multiple genocides (Palestine, Congo, Sudan), climate justice, the rise of fascism. But we also drop into sorrow because some of our relationships are impacted, folks who we thought would care are silent or indifferent. And understandably, we grapple with anger, sorrow, frustration, and endless questioning.
🪷
But I hear God saying, even in this shift, do not loose heart, be open to releasing, because it is only in releasing old ways of being, thinking and moving that we can receive. As these old relationships wither away, new and beloved communities are rising, more expansive ways of showing up in radical love and justice. Even in the midst of such pain, we can hold space for joy; the joy of new beginnings + awakenings. Shout out to my sis @radicalvisionarycollective your spiritual coaching has made this so clear!
🕯️
“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:19
🕯️
And I leave you with the words from an essay I read recently by Bayo Akomolafe, huge thank you to my soul friend Jenn @chroniclyconnectedperspective for sharing his words:
“We need a politics of tenderness now more than ever. Not tenderness as capitulation to particular conclusions that have already been made. Not tenderness as “if you don’t see the world as I do, there’s something wrong with you.” But tenderness as a nurturing of grace that allows something different, something even beautiful, to be born in the midst of the fires.”

The church must reckon with the harm its inflicted on our indigenous siblings. Any denial of this history is another act of violence as it attempts to render Native people’s lived experiences & truths invisible.
🔥
The Doctrine of Discovery was upheld by church leadership as a “God-given right of European kings to “discover” and claim land in non-Christian areas. In 1452, Pope Nicholas V extended this policy through the Papal Bill Romanus Pontifex and declared war against all non-Christians in the world and authorized the conquest of their nations and territories.” Source: http://gorhistory.com/hist420/DoctrineDiscovery.html
🔥
This worship of colonization, empire and conquest is the foundation of the Christian nationalism we witness globally today; all oppression is inextricably linked.

#RestInPower | Sandra Bland would be 36 if she had lived. We are sitting with the sound of her voice today, the urgent rise of her spirit, and the depth of her wisdom, even now, all these years later… she is teaching us. 👇🏾
“Show me, in history, where all lives matter. Show me, in history, where there has been liberty and justice for all.”
We live in a time full of trauma, and it is easy to forget - even if this is not our intention. And yet, it is ever more urgent to REMEMBER… for this is an act of REVOLUTION in a culture which embraces #revisionisthistory.
♥️
May every life lost push us, continually, to work towards a world where collective liberation blossoms… where those who are pushed, continually, to the margins, are centered, heard + seen.

The ROOTS of violence are what we must begin to address as we also pushing for legislation to deal with #gunviolence. Hatred is normalized here and it’s evident within - 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾
- the ways we DEMONIZE ANY kind of difference which makes us uncomfortable, REFUSE to hear and see one another, FORTIFY barriers bw. “us” + “them” under the guise of “morality.”
Conversations are quickly becoming relics; all we know are echo chambers + screaming matches. THIS energy fuels mass shooting after mass shooting, it’s all connected. 📣
💔 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾
Hate crimes reported to the FBI by law enforcement agencies rose from more than 8,000 in 2020 to nearly 11,000 the following year, according to updated statistics released last week (source: The Marshall Project).
If we don’t have the COURAGE to uproot the toxic HATE in this country, there is no collective liberation.

We caught up with Adam Hollowell and Jamie McGhee, founders of @prayingbaldwin to discuss their powerful book: You Mean It or You Don’t: James Baldwin’s Radical Challenge. Listen here: https://www.praywithourfeet.org/podcast/45dovsueqieuptrni7l0kdxiqc1fx0
One of the most prolific writers and thinkers of the 20th century, Baldwin’s words continue to awaken us. Drawing from his extensive body of work - fiction, poetry speeches and interviews, Jamie and Adam call us to embody our activism. There are prompts at the end of each chapter to help us take action - whether concerning police brutality, racial justice or LGBTQ+ rights. Our discussion also lifts up the urgency of dialouging across differences, looking inward, intergating ways we are either unaware of oppression or compilict, what seeking justice and love within our communities and church spaces.
