Going back to where it all began...

I'm on annual leave.

You'd think I'd be out partying and living it up big time.

Well, technically I did that last night but that's besides the point.

What I am doing however, is going back to where it all started for me.

Where I think my life began to alter for the better.

Living Water.

A church run coffee shop which took me in and nurtured me when I was a misguided teenager.

I volunteered here from the age of 18.

It allowed me to grow in confidence, gain valuable life skills and enabled me to begin my journey on the career path I have today.

In fact, even when I took on my first full time role, I still helped out on Saturday's.

I was committed to the cause.

But about a year or so ago I took a step back.

Life got in the way as it does and just like a child in a family, I guess you could say I had to fly from the nest.

However, now in a better position and a more positive mindset, I'm back and happy to assist whenever I can.

So why not use my time off to do so?

Yes, it's still work, but I'm glad to do just that.

It's for the local community I grew up in and I would do anything to give back to the people who helped me when I needed it most.

I guess my message here is, it's amazing how the smallest bit of kindness can change a person's life.

It did for me.

Encourage someone today. You never know where it may lead them.
