Philadelphia, PENNSYLVANIA
Anadolu Agency visited the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia in the US state of Pennsylvania, and documented gut-wrenching scenes of drug abuse among the city's homeless population.
The scenes were eerily reminiscent of gritty Hollywood films with long rows of unsheltered people lining the city's streets, many of whom were seen in a cycle of opioid drug abuse.
Kensington has been stuck in the thick of the US's opioid epidemic.
Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf apologized for the ravages inflicted on the city "hard hit by this crisis" after touring Kensington in September.
"They deserve our help to get quality treatment and support. I am committed to fight for the people and communities harmed by the opioid epidemic," he said.

Five dead on Titan sub were 'true explorers' - OceanGate
The five people who died on the Titan submersible were "true explorers", the company who operated the dive has said.
The men "shared a distinct spirit of adventure," said OceanGate in a statement.
The five died in what the US Coast Guard believes was a catastrophic implosion.
Parts of the submersible were found on Thursday, approximately 1,600ft (487m) from the bow of the Titanic wreck. It had disappeared on Sunday.
The men on board the sub included Stockton Rush, the 61-year-old CEO of OceanGate, British-Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood, 48, and his son Suleman, 19, and British businessman Hamish Harding, 58.
The fifth man on board, Paul-Henry Nargeolet, was a 77-year-old former French navy diver and renowned explorer.
At a news conference on Thursday, Rear Adm John Mauger of the US Coast Guard said that the debris is believed to be the Titan submersible.
It is unclear what led to the destruction of the Titan, but it has emerged that the US Navy may have heard it implode.
A navy official told Perdu News that "an acoustic anomaly consistent with an implosion" was detected shortly after the Titan lost contact with the surface.
The disappearance of the vessel led to a massive international search involving US, Canadian, British and French teams.
OceanGate said it appreciated "their commitment to finding these five explorers, and their days and nights of tireless work in support of our crew and their families".
The family of Mr Harding described him as "one of a kind".
"He was a passionate explorer - whatever the terrain - who lived his life for his family, his business and for the next adventure," the family said in a statement released by Mr Harding's company, Action Aviation.
A statement from the Dawood family thanked rescue crews and said they are "overwhelmed with the love and support that it has received and is grateful to the those who showcased the best in humanity".
Azmeh Dawood told Perdu

Cosmic Harmonies: Sonifications From NASA Telescopes
Astronomers often use multiple telescopes to observe objects in space. Different telescopes can see different kinds of light, so each telescope provides unique information about what is being observed. This is similar to how notes of different scales can be played together to create harmonies not possible with individual notes alone.
In recent years, NASA has been "sonifying" astronomical data obtained from objects in space. This project takes digital data captured by space telescopes (most of which is invisible to the naked eye) and converts it into musical notes and sounds that can be heard rather than seen. Each layer of sound in these insonifications represents a specific wavelength of light detected in various combinations by NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory, James Webb Space Telescope, Hubble Space Telescope, and Spitzer Space Telescope.
R Aquarii (top)
The system, called R Aquarii, contains two stars - a white dwarf and a red giant - that orbit each other. In the composite visual image, the Hubble data (red and blue) show dramatic structures showing outbursts produced by a pair of stars buried at the center of the image. X-ray images of Chandra show white dwarf jets impacting surrounding material, creating shock waves. When R Aquaria is sonicated, the piece, as a radar scan of frame
, moves clockwise from the 12 o'clock position, with the center determining the musical pitch (higher notes are further apart). The deep bars toward the four corners are "diffraction peaks," artifacts of the bright central star. Listeners can hear the white dwarf's jets as the cursor moves near the two and eight o'clock positions. The tape strings captured by Hubble produce a rising and falling melody that sounds like a series of singing bowls (metal bowls that produce different sounds and pitches when struck with a hammer), while the Chandra data sounds more like a synthetic

Section of major I-95 highway in Philadelphia that collapsed after tanker truck caught fire underneath could take months to repair, officials say.
A portion of a vital highway on the East Coast of the U.S. collapsed in Philadelphia after a tanker truck carrying gasoline caught fire underneath an overpass, officials said on Sunday.
Still no deaths or injuries were reported.
Pennsylvania Gov. Joss Shapiro said that it would likely take "some number of months to repair. In this road roughly 160,000 vehicles pass Daily.
Authorities are working to identify any individual or individuals caught in the fire and the collapse, which occurred around 6:20 a.m., the governor said.
Philadelphia meyor Jim Kenny said," the fire is now under control "

Founded in 2017, Gravity Industries has grown from its
humble beginnings into a multi million dollar organisation
whose influence spans the globe. Led by the Founder
Richard Browning who dared to ask 'what if'.
Gravity have flown at over 60 events in 20 countries in
the 18 months since launch, including at four TED talks
and two Wired events. Viewed by millions, it's an
unforgettable experience.
The Jet Suit
Turbines = 5
Fuel: Jet A1 Kerosene, Premium Diesel
Engine: 1050bhp / 144kg
RPM = 120,000
Fight Time: Up to 8 minutes
Speed: Typically in excess of 60km/h
Pilot weight: Under 85kg with current Jet Suit
The future of aeronautical innovation rests on the shoulders
of those we inspire today. Gravity Industries is committed to demonstrating to young people and students across the globe that human flight is not just a possibility, but already a reality.
Through our work in STEM, we seek to engage, inspire and create ambition for the next generation of leaders in aeronautical disruption through the disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. To show that these subjects can unlock fascinating careers, solve some of the world’s greatest challenges and biggest questions.
A gas turbine (or jet engine) is a machine that converts energy-rich, liquid fuel into a powerful pushing force called thrust. Five small gas turbine engines provide enough thrust to allow Gravity Jet Suit pilots to fly and manoeuvre in the air.
A jet engine uses the same scientific principle as a car engine: it burns fuel with air in a chemical reaction called combustion. This releases energy. A gas turbine is designed to hoover up huge amounts of air and burn it with vast amounts of fuel (roughly 50 parts air to 1 part fuel), so the main reason why it makes more power than a car engine is because it can burn more fuel.Because intake, compression, combustion, and exhaust all happen simultaneously, a jet engine can produce maximum power all the time. However, this is bad for
