Okay. So it has been four months since I lost Carol. Things change. And I keep looking over my shoulder, hoping to see her sweet face. I listen for her wise advice, her calm way of looking things. She is never there, sadly. But things continue to change.

It has taken a bit of time and patience to get to this place. You know, adjusting to this new reality. This new normal.

The hardest part has been doing all this alone. By my self. I am thankful for the support groups who use the dynamics of the many to help me put things in perspective. I realize that there are people who are willing and ready to ease the burdens of people like me.

But enough about me. Next we will explore this disease. Alzheimer’s. What is being learned and done.

Alzheimer's disease impacts more than 5 million Americans. Its cost is staggering when all aspects are considered. The cost of caring for a sufferer is only the tip of the iceberg. Many caregivers curtail other aspects of their lives to take care of these people. Adult children care for ailing parents, husbands and wives give up all to care for their affected spouses. Join me here for updates and information on the battle against this disease. Research into its causes and medicines being developed will be part of this saga. You will hear the stories of people caring for this disease's victims.
