Hey everyone, I'm in a tight spot and I hope you can help.

At the beginning of COVID, an animation contract that I had been working on for over a year fell through. I was streaming part-time at this point, and decided to give a full time schedule a try while looking for a new gig. This was an unexpected success, and my channel viewership and sub count began growing rapidly once we started doing Cosplay Season.

This went very well for about a year, until things started to drop off and put me in a position where I couldn’t support my family and would likely have to stop streaming. This is when Facebook offered me a partnership, and I didn’t hesitate to take a steady paycheck to keep things going. I was congratulated on “securing the bag”, but the deal wasn’t a life changing amount of money. It was basically enough to pay the bills, which could keep things going for another year.

Things were off to a bad start as I only managed a few months before getting a cold, then bronchitis, then COVID, all back to back. Once my lungs had cleared up and I was ready to dive back into cosplay, Facebook canceled my contract and left me hanging with no income. I was devastated since I still couldn’t find animation work, and every bit of streaming income was suddenly cut off. I decided to give Twitch another try, and was overwhelmed with the support I had on my return.

As appreciative as I was of each sub and donation, these quickly fell off as summer approached, so I felt I needed to do something big to get rolling again. I came up the idea of doing a Pride-A-Thon and another Drag-A-Thon. Unfortunately these weren’t as successful as they needed to be, with the revenue brought in barely covering the costs of the wigs and costumes. It became clear that it was time to stop pushing and accept the fact I don’t have the talent to be a successful streamer.

It was a sad reality to face, but heading back to the animation and production world hasn’t been any better. I’ve applied for positions and gigs all over the country, and contract positions all over the world, with no success. With my work history being ANIMATOR and DRAG QUEEN, I can’t even get a call back from local entry level manual labor gigs. I’m usually pretty resourceful and able to push through rough times, but I’m at a loss on what to do and am losing hope that I’ll be able to figure it out.

I need your help. It’s extremely hard for me to publicly announce that, but I do.

How can you help? I’ve set up a Ko-Fi page, which is a site that allows artists to set up commissions and also receive donations. It’s like Patreon, but is focused more on providing actual services/commissions in exchange for payment and donations. They also take no fee on one time donations, and only a 5% on recurring ones. Anything you can toss my way would be greatly appreciated.

I’m also offering something new through Ko-Fi: Cosplay Commissions. This is the same thing that we did in the past with Cosplay SZN, but without giving 50% of your money to Twitch. This will help keep the cosplay spark alive with custom photosets and streams, and larger donations can make that happen. If you commission a cosplay from me, I’ll be more than happy to come back to Twitch and stream in it.

I know it’s not realistic to expect something like cosplay commissions to transform into a full time job; I’m really just hoping it can bring in enough money to keep me going while looking for something more secure. Anything you spare will be immensely appreciated.
