At an Associated Press conference last week, Crabistani leadership announced the establishment of a free trade zone in the city of Caen near the Crabistan-Crabrak border. Under the protection of the Crabistani National Army, this free trade zone has resulted in an economic boom for Crabistan and has created an upswing in international travel as people come to trade, start businesses, or participate in Crabistan’s well established illicit drug trade.

DISASTER STRIKES!

A massive landslide has decimated much of the capital of Crabistan. The casualty toll is still rising as more and more victims are uncovered from the rubble. Thousands are left without homes, and basic services such as water & electricity have been knocked out throughout much of the region. At this time, first responders are still attempting to clear a path to the capitol building where Crabistani legislators were in session at the time of the disaster.

Many refugees are fleeing up into the mountainous DDAP Region of Crabistan, seeking higher ground in fear of another landslide. Soviet Forces have entered the region to assist with disaster relief efforts, and help maintain order while the fate of the Crabistani government is determined.

Authorities are claiming the cause of the landslide was a rare high intensity earthquake near the Kraznoy Power Plant (La Fiere on Crabistan Map), which has ceased operations at this time, and has been off limits since the disaster. Locals to the region say that such an earthquake is unheard of, and they have never witnessed a landslide such as this within their lifetimes.

One of our press teams sent in a video from the Crabistani Border showing Soviet military aid crossing into the country. This comes in the aftermath of a massive string of earthquakes that have ravaged the poor and mountainous country.

So far the Soviet energy department has managed to restore power in the villages of Colleville and Caen much to the rejoicing of many Crabistani locals.

The Crabistani Muck Bean. A Surprising New Wonderdrug?

Lobcorp Pharma's recent press release touts a new wonder drug with hundreds of potential uses. A Lobcorp rep would not specify the exact potential for the new drug, but would tell ACP45 that the compound mungocybin which is sourced from the Crabistani Mungbean is the primary active ingredient.

When questioned about the purported side effects of Mung Bean usage, primarily studied by Soviet controlled research, the Lobcorp rep stated, "The Soviets know the potential of this compound and their released research is nothing more than propaganda designed to control usage among Crabistani locals and to corner the market, they know what it can really do."

More specifically Lobcorp insists that their new drug may well create cures for major conditions ranging from Diabetes to Erectile Dysfunction. The Current Soviet "Peacekeeping" Operation in Crabistan is suddenly thrust into a speculation in light of this news as Lobcorp has begun lobbying the US Legislature to take a stronger position against the Soviets in that region.

UN WORLD HEALTH COUNCIL DECRIES TRADE OF MUCK-BEANS, CITES HARM ON LOCAL POPULATIONS

The black market trade of muck-beans across the Crabistani borders has reached an all time high according to UN officials. Local officials report a recent crack down on the illegal smuggling has taken nearly 500 kilos of the banned drug off the streets, but even that amount is only a drop in the bucket compared to the estimated total production of the region. UN officials cite otherwise lax enforcement over the preceding decades, as well as a high demand among local impoverished populations as a main driving factor of the lucrative business. Despite it's euphoric high, a recent study by the UN World Health Council reveals lasting affects among long term users of the drug, including incontinence & impotence, and strongly urge law makers to adopt policies to help curb its proliferation.

KRAZNOY ELECTRA CO TARGETS NEW PROSPECTS AMID REGIONAL ENERGY CONCERNS

With increased war production across the Warsaw Pact countries in response to ongoing conflict in western Europe & southeast Asia, the already strained Crabistani regional power grid that previously relied on imported electricity has been further plagued by brownouts & outages. Local municipalities are encouraging local residents to prepare for intermittent services. Recently, Soviet Union owned Kraznoy Electra Co. has sent a team of surveyors & field engineers into the mountains above Crabistan's capitol. Kraznoy press agents report they are in search of a new power plant location to better service the region. Notably among the expeditionary party is Dr. Zaitsev, known for her recent groundbreaking research in ultra-low emission energy sources. The mayor of the Crabistani capitol praises the proposed new power plant, claiming it will mark the beginning of a new age for struggling Crabistan.
