Firefighters were allowed to enter the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, the head of the Zaporozhye Regional Military Administration has said.

So far, we know that a reactor was “hit” & is inactive with fuel inside, but that the admin building is on fire. No reports of elevated radiation levels as of yet.

A fire at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, the largest in Europe, is slowly beginning to get out of hand. Firefighters and emergency crews are reportedly not able to approach the site due to the ongoing fighting at and within the plant.

We could be looking at a nuclear catastrophe, and I'm not sure if this is malicious on the part of the Russians or if they are just dangerously stupid and incompetent.

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister:

"Russian army is firing from all sides upon Zaporizhzhia NPP, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. Fire has already broke out. If it blows up, it will be 10 times larger than Chornobyl! Russians must IMMEDIATELY cease the fire, allow firefighters, establish a security zone!"

NATO has said that Finland could be accepted into the alliance within 24 hours following parliamentary approval.

Russia had threatened Finland, if they approached NATO, so it'll be interesting to see if this leads anywhere although I doubt a decision will be made. This is just a debate as required by law following a petition, similar to the system we have in the UK.
