Yes, political participation does not and should start, nor end on elections, its always beyond that.

In the Philippines, as another national election is just around the corner, it is important that we continue to open up spaces and discuss what really MATTERS in today’s political engagement. Beyond the noise, toxicity, frustration, we invite everyone to go back to conversations on what political engagement is really about.

Yes, it is beyond the name of the politicians we support, it’s always about protecting these democratic space we hold dear and fighting for the rights especially of those who’s rights are suppressed and neglected after decades of systemic injustices.

Last year, we released three installments of "DAWBI?" The Single & Searching Political Education Series where we talked about the questions on the “who”, “why”, and “how” in today’s political spaces. As elections come near, we invite everyone to tune in and re-join (and re-echo) these conversations!

At this point in our lives, we know that people come and go. They say some come into our lives for a purpose but not everyone is meant to stay. As social creatures, however, we are programmed to seek out and build relationships and although some relationships have to end, it is the relationships that have stood the test of time that matter the most to us.

When the ones duty-bound to protect us fail, where do we go? When our systems that save have cost us thousands of lives, where do we put our trust? When we are mourning our losses and those in-charge still think we are "winning", what do we do?

For the next two weeks, Single & Searching will be "on break" in solidarity with all those who have been longing for change, for better systems and governance, and a "break" from all of it.

We call on all of our listeners and supporters to unpack with us—in the next weeks—what we are truly "searching for", personally, and demand for better action; and pray with us for all those who continue to risk and have lost their lives in these tumultuous times of our country.

Whether you are searching for peace of mind in the midst of these trying times, a sense of security that you will be taken care of no matter what, or an end to all of the suffering, violence, and death you have been witnessing around you or fallen victim to—whatever you are searching for, together, let us find it.
